Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Makes His Return To The Show! A&E Welcomes Him Back Into The Fold!

Duck Dynasty fans can breathe a sigh of relief now; everyone else, cue your groan!

Why? Because Phil Robertson is coming back to the hit A&E show!

After the network first announced his indefinite hiatus prompted by his anti-gay remarks, fans, as well as his family, rallied around the the Duck Dynasty patriarch, supporting his actions and more disappointingly, his opinions.

Now, today, Phil was given the green light by the network to return to the show.

Can we say we're shocked? Not really. Still, we are disappointed.

But A&E explained themselves in a lengthy statement, as well as announce a new initiative the family will be a part of to foster more tolerance for all:

As a global media content company, A+E Networks’ core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people’s home and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principals.

That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the “coarse language” he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate.” We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.

In addition, an A&E source says the family and the network are going to work together to promote tolerance moving forward.

While we definitely did NOT agree to any of Phil's statements about the gay community, we're glad that A&E is taking the right steps forward in this controversy.

Especially since the whole family is on board to promote tolerance towards the LGBT community.

Never seen the show but hopefully this opens his eyes and mind to a few things. His comments were absolutely disgusting, but that's his lifestyle so what do we expect. It's a shame religion is falsely being used as a defence for all this though, nothing to do with religion just ignorance and hate.

I'm glad to hear this. I don't watch the show regularly, just seen a few episodes, and don't agree with everything Phil said in that interview, but I support his right to say it. I don't believe that the liberal right, or any group such as GLAAD should have the right to demand anyone be fired for their views. I know private companies can fire someone for saying things that others find offensive, but this is not an office job. This is a reality show where they are filming people's lives. You can't then go in and say "we are going to film your life, but we don't want you to be yourselves and this is what you can and can not say." ESPECIALLY since this particular circumstance wasn't even on the show but in an article.

  6. 6

Perez, you are such a hypocrite.
Everyone has the right to express themselves….
But if this guy (i have never seen the show) expresses his opinion ( I do not aree with it), then he should be fired????
I didn't know everyone had to agree with you, or anyone else.
American soldiers die to protect OUR freedom of speech…
This is NOTHING more than that.
Some of this country still has that right.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
They totally caved. They obviously care more about money than gays. The CEO should be fired. It's not easy to piss off both sides. But in the end, the good guys won.

  8. 8

Let's see, Chic-fil-a, Duck Dynasty. Good guys 2, bad guys 0.

  9. 9

The bottom line is dollar bills, which A&E caved to because this entire issue with Phil is not about freedom of speech, and if think that it is and that this is some sort of triumph in that regard, you are as ignorant as the fabricated, contrived family on that show is for duping you.

Well Perez, Apparently the SMALL percentage of gay people in the United States do not get to dictate to everyone else what is acceptable to say or not say. No one cares what you do in your bedroom and with who. Phil should be able to say what he wants. A&E knew they had to bring him back because of the mighty dollar.

  11. 11

Re: New Jersey Dude – And Perez seems to be hypocritical because he makes his living making negative comments about other people, but I guess if you are the "boss" you are allowed to do so since there is no one above him to complain to in order to fire him from the site.

  12. 12

No duh, publicity stunt at it's finest

Re: Mad Dog – I wouldn't call them good guys lol. They have a free to speak their mind but idiots going out of the way to "support" the rich as many "Christians" do is beyond idiotic. Stand outside for 3 hours waiting on that chicken sandwich bub.

Gays should focus less on ducks and more on the continent of africa. It is by far one of the most horrifically abusive continents towards gays (homosexuality is a crime in nearly every country and a death penalty in some places there). Protest african products. African inventions. African coffee. African technology. African oil products. African imports. African music. African anything that comes out of that continent. And dont donate to any african related charities that feed their backwoods brownnecks (the most intolerant part of africa).
Wear those "protest africa for gay rights" t-shirts proud. The us gov should be imposing sanctions on african countries for their treatment of gays.
THAT will put the heat on their governments to at least be fair to gays. Nothing short of that will work. I love the show though. Its one of the few fun things I watch.

  16. 16

duck hunters 1 dick hunters 0. don't worry perez A&E is going to run PSA's announcing their love and adoration for butt-fuckers on all their shows. A&E will run PSA's announcing their love for men who stick their dicks in other mens ass. yummy, chocolate covered dick.

Re: shaygirl1309 – Go to Hell! With that attitude and view your heading the right way! People like you are a stain on humanity. Judgemental and full of hate, makes me sick!!

  18. 18

Good! He did nothing wrong. That's what freedom of speech is for…he did absolutely nothing wrong. Glad to see him back.

How sad and disgusting that A & E supports and encourages hatred, bigotry, and prejudice against us LGBTers. The family is on board to promote tolerance towards us LGBTers? It's DEFINITELY too late for that. They're already proven their intolerance.

  22. Sadie G says – reply to this

Wow Perez. YOU are the only one spreading hate. This man simply stated his views on life and religion. He has a right to say what he wants.

  23. 23

No one cares about gays. When someone says something that isn't offensive that ends upo causing outrage and people mislabel is "homophobia" you'll receive a fight. Gays are an annoying minority. In the end, the majority won. Forcing people to apologize has done nothing. Last time I checked the last time the LGBT community decided to boycott something it ended up having record sales. Sorry gays, you're not as important or special as you might think.

  24. 24

A&E should not only be committed to their principles (not principals), but should also hire a proofreader. Could be a Freudian slip since Duck Dynasty is the principal show on the network.

  25. fairmaiden says – reply to this

I do not agree with his words but he should be allowed to express himself just as Gay people should also have the same right. This is America!!
