Beyoncé Responds To Controversial Challenger Audio Used In XO! Read Her Statement HERE!

We think Queen Bey can do no wrong…well, at least intentionally!

After receiving some backlash for including an audio transmission from the Challenger explosion in her song XO, Beyoncé issued a statement explaining its inclusion:

"My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster. The song XO was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you. The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten.”

We think that this is a pretty flawless explanation. Sure, she's self professed to be No Angel, but this seemed like the appropriate response, no?

All in all, we know you didn't mean any harm!

Meanwhile, June Scobee Rodgers, widow of Challenger Space Shuttle Commander Dick Scobee and one of the founders of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, was "disappointed" with the Bey:

"We were disappointed to learn that an audio clip from the day we lost our heroic Challenger crew was used in the song XO. The moment included in this song is an emotionally difficult one for the Challenger families, colleagues and friends. We have always chosen to focus not on how our loved ones were lost, but rather on how they lived and how their legacy lives on today."

That was indeed such a tragic day. We hope Yonce will think about June's words, and learn from this response!

Ok, heard the song. She, the writers and song producers are all IDIOTS.

maybe someone will blow her brains out and jzee and kenye can put it in a record as a tribute to her brains. these women are becoming so embarrassing. is it all shock? anyone got enough talent to sell a record without becoming a freak?" yes, some women do, theres Adele, Alison Krauss, Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, and many others sadly its only the freaks we hear about.

What is wrong with you? The song is actually really sweet. Sure, maybe not use the challenger audio, but I don't think the intent was to shock? That's definitely not what the song is about.

I think the song is beautiful and the audio used isn't anything awful. It's just the warning that something went wrong. The song works with it. XO is a very dreamy song about love and living in the moment. The tragedy happened in 1986… she isn't exploiting it at all.

If the song got a lot of airplay, I can see how it might be tough for the families to hear it over and over.

As a NASA employee I don't feel this statement is fair. The family and NASA feel it is insensitive, but Beyoncé's intentions are very sweet, I liked her statement, but always feel for the family. I think this is a hard place for Beyoncé to be at, if I were her team, we would remove the intro on the radio version.

The audio part seems kind of random, but I wouldn't have guessed it was part of the audio transmission of the Challenger blowing up, and I'm old enough to remember when it happened. But people can view it over and over again on YouTube, so I really don't see what the big deal is.
