Congratulations, Sasheer Zamata!

Earlier this past fall, SNL became the subject of some controversy when its new batch of performers lacked basically any racial diversity!

Now, after an extensive talent search, Lorne Michaels has added Sasheer, the first African-American female cast member in 6 years, to Saturday Night Live!

Sasheer, who has been a regular at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater beat out dozens of other in joining the sketch show!

Her first appearance on the venerable late night show will be January 18th when Drake hosts and musical guest stars as well.

Ow ow just hold on she's going home to 30 Rock!

We're so excited to see Sasheer bring her A-game HIGHlarious talent to the show! Get it, gurl!
