The HIGHly anticipated Aaliyah tribute album will never be heard!
While Drake announced plans to release a recording of some unheard samples from the late and great songstress, the heavy bashing it's gotten from family and fans has forced the rapping superstar to pull out.
And since Drake abandoned the project, producer Noah '40' Shebib had NO other choice but to put the project on the shelf to collect dust.
“I’ve been obsessed with Aaliyah forever, and I know Drake has his relationship with her. But that opportunity (tribute album) was mine. Drake said, ‘Can I do it with you?’ and I was like, ‘Of course, we’ll do it together.' The world reacting to Drake’s involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it. That was a very sad experience for me. I was naive to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy. [Aaliyah’s] mother saying ‘I don’t want this out’ was enough for me. I walked away very quickly.”
Well, if Mama Aaliyah isn't comfortable with it than we don't want to hear it anyway!
We were excited about hearing some new material, but we guess we'll just have to be satisfied with classics like Try Again and Don't Think They Know!
