Remember when Anne Hathaway won, like, ALL the awards there were to win last year??
An Oscar, a Golden Globe, a SAG Award. She pretty much just swept the 2013 Awardz season for her performance in Les Misérables.
But with each award she racked up, it seemed she also racked up more and more hate from the internet!
Pssh. Pay them no mind, Anne. H8rs gonna h8.
After her banner year, Miz Hathaway sort of took a step out of the spotlight and let the online firestorm she received die down. But she was back in Sundance this week with a new movie and a new message for all of her critics!
Anne explained how her upcoming film Song One, directed by her friend Kate Barker-Froyland, helped her focus, saying:
"We had been working on the script for almost two years before we actually started shooting. All of the elements came together in that moment. I don't want to bring up a sore subject or anything — I think my publicist is probably like 'No, no no' — but I had just taken a little bit of a beating from the Internet. It was the greatest thing in the world to get to work with my friends and get to go to work every day and bring Kate's vision to life, which is a vision that I believe in. I felt like it was really cool. I felt like I had a secret.”
Song One tells the story of a woman connecting with the music idol of her comatose brother. It’s a low-budget flick that packs a big a story punch, which is exactly the role Annie thrives in!
Good for you, gurl! Let the internet say what they’re gonna say. Keep making the movies YOU want to make! That’s why we love ya!
