These two are twanging it ain't so!
In recently obtained court documents, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley have called accusations that they stole the country song Remind Me from a singer Amy Bowen, also known as Lizza Connor, absurd.
Amy is alleging in her lawsuit against the duo that she had come up with her own version of Remind Me at a songwriting workshop in Nashville back in 2008, and that one of the workshop's advisors, Charles DuBois, went on to collaborate with Brad and release the song of the same name!
Although Amy also contests that the hook, melody, and certain phrases are the same in both iterations, Brad and Amy are denying any and all allegations:
“Defendants (Paisley and Underwood) deny any wrongful conduct, omissions, infringement or any other activities alleged by Plaintiff in this District or elsewhere or that they are liable to the Plaintiff for any claims.”
Meanwhile, Charles claims that Amy had to sign a consent agreement, which forfeits her rights to sue for trademark infringement.
Our guess? This lawsuit will probably end in a settlement. These two should have more than enough cash on hand from hosting the CMA Awards to make this legal drama a thing of the past!
