Well this is the total opposite of an AH-Mazing evening!

Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City's hit track Good Time was sued for for copyright infringement back in 2012…

And it looks like they just lost their case!

BMI (the company who collects royalties from the song) is now being order to pay over $800k to the lesser known vocalist Ally Burnett, who the song apparently rips off!

If you listen closely, Ally's ear candy, Ah, It's a Love Song, does sound trés similar - but your humble opinion is ALWAYS appreciated.

Do you think the ruling was fair?!

UPDATE: There has so far been NO ruling in this case by the court. The plaintiff actually dismissed her claims against BMI and agreed that royalties deposited by BMI can be released to the lawyers for other defendants in the case. That part of the claim has nothing to do with Carly Rae or Owl City.

Ch-ch-check out both videos…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Do you think Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen ripped off Ally Burnett?!

Hard to say if it's fair. There is a difference between "influence", being influenced by something musically, which I see as being a subconscious thing. It's something that comes out of you, that is swayed in a direction, just because it's in your conscience from some time. It could've been 30 years ago, it could've been 6 months ago, you might not even know where it comes from, and it could be as little as 1 2, or 4 bars of music or a note, that put it in there, but it's there. There's a difference between that, accidentally coming up with something that sounds good, that you didn't realize had already been written similarly, and straight up ripping people off. Saying to yourself "that;s a good song….. I'm gonna try to write something like that, and it ends up sounding exactly the same, Instead of sitting down, grabbing a guitar, and just trying to piece something together that sounds good. Judging by todays "talent", it's hard to tell. I personally don't have much faith in todays "artists".

It's about honesty too. Where the fuck do you come off, stealing somebody elses shit? Somebody who isn't getting noticed, when you are already stinking rich, with all kinds of people paying you money to be "famous" already? You'd have to be the lowest form of scum of the earth, IMO. It means you're fake and you didn't actually earn what you have.

    One million and countings songs
Are aprently "rip-offed" listen folks every music we hear will eventually sound like something
else. Music has its rythems and beats and stuff, there are a million differnt variation on one beat or rythme, and Im 101% sure there are sounds in here that relate to a diferrent song too or"influenceed"
