Amanda Knox made it out of Italy and back to the U.S. back in 2011. But her Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, stayed behind in his home country.

But after being convicted of murdering Meredith Kercher yet again yesterday, Raffaele finally tried to flee!

Italian police stopped Sollecito near the border of Austria and Slovenia early Friday morning. Authorities believe he was trying to leave the country, something he’s not allowed to do during his legal proceedings and especially not now that he’s been found guilty for a second time.

A judge sentenced Knox to 28 years in prison yesterday; Sollecito to 25.

Amanda will need to be extradited back to Italy in order to get her behind bars there. Sollecito however can only hope that the Italian Supreme Court dismisses their case for a second time.

Otherwise, he’ll be locked up, with no where to run to.

Stay tuned for more deets as they unfold!

PEREZ please make sure to tell your audience the facts of this case. They should have never been retrialed. They served four years in Italian prison for something they never did. ZERO physical evidence was found of the two of them at the crime scene. The crime scene found semen, blood, saliva, a hand print, and a shoe print. It all belonged to another guy. None of Amanda or Raffaele DNA was found in her room. ….Praying for amanda and rafaelle. :)

Oh come on! If he was trying to escape the country he wouldn't have stopped at a hotel for the night because he knew he would have to turn over his ID and that it would be given to the police. Get fucking real.

So, the Italians can just decide to retrial a decided case? Was there too much backlash?
What about double jeopardy? They can just retry people ad infinitum?
