Cate Blanchett Passive Aggressively Picks A Side In The Woody Allen Molestation Situation! Throws Blatant Shade At Her Director In A VERY Public Forum!

| Filed under: Film FlickersCate BlanchettAwardzWoody Allen

cate blanchett thanks everyone but woody allen during acceptance

Oooooh!! Is that some shade we smell?!?!

Even though Cate Blanchett released a pretty polite statement the other day about Woody Allen's molestation drama, but it seems like she's definitely picked sides now!

The fashion-forward actress was at the Santa Barbara Film Festival accepting an award for her work in Blue Jasmine and during her acceptance speech she thanked pretty much everyone involved with the film.

…Except Woody!

YIKES!!

And when we say everyone, we mean like EVERYONE except maybe the extras…and her director!

Cate definitely thanked him when she accepted her award at the SAGs AND when she accepted her statue during the Critics' Choice Awards so this has GOT to be a sign!

We guess even though she didn't want to "officially" choose Dylan Farrow over Woody, she "unofficially" did by throwing her shade at the director!

You go, gurl!

Ch-ch-check out Cate's whole speech & dismissal of Woody…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Is she picking sides, or is it just self-preservation?

Hollywood; sweeping shit under rugs since 1925.

She probably called him first to give him a heads up.

I think it's right, she did the right thing but she can't thank people for the movie and not woody. He is the mastermind behind the movie. If it were me, I would refuse the oscar, I would make a bold statement, this would definitely put a strain on his career and Cate would do something great for others. Poor Cate, in 2008, Marion Cotillard came out of nowhere to snub the oscar (she would have gotten it for elizabeth) and this time around the whole controversy. I is probably a controversy now just because of Cate, because she is so stylish and classy so if she wins and sides with woody (which was supposed to happen) he would have been untouchable. Mia and her family hit a the right time.

What's the big deal about woody allen anyway? I mean, I'm 40 years old, and I'm damn sure anyone of his movies (that I haven't seen), would put me to sleep in about half an hr.

    He's a really dorky, over-rated, old guy.

She is being delicate in a delicate situation.

Re: blem – Yes and she probably doesn't want to take any chances with her oscar. I wouldn't be surprised if Woody hadn't told her himself to do it on purpose and ignore him….at the end if she wins, he wins.

She is not stupid and she has definitely the benefit of the doubt of not having been there when the alleged acts occurred. However, she avoids as well a big pile of unnecessary hassle with all these hysterical who see in each man a potentially dangerous predatory sexual.

I was wondering if she would name him when it comes oscar time, thats the big one

America is becoming a third world country. Only in third world countries are you guilty until proven innocent.

Have no strong opinion, but he has always seemed a bit strange.
Don't care for his movies except Annie Hall.

Third World countries actually refers to countries that were not aligned with NATO or the Soviet Bloc during the Cold War. It has nothing to do with the presumption of innocence. And on that note, "guilty until proven innocent" is nothing new in America.. Salem Witch Trials.. Specific to Woody Allen i'd say, where there is smoke, theres fire. Its public knowledge that he was discovered to have naked pictures of his 21 year old step daughter.. whom he later married. Its not unreasonable to wonder at what point did his relationship with her begin.. at what age? And in that vein is it so inconceivable that he were to have been inappropriate with his other daughter? Its not really for me to say but I and everyone else can certainly speculate or have an opinion about it. Thats the nature of the beast when you open yourself up to a life in the public eye.

    Hmm..
Interesting. I hadn't caught the ommision. She's been efusive in her praise beforehand. Maybe she just forgot in the moment? Or 'advised' by her 'people' to play it safe?
Cate doesn't seem like the meek type who would do that thought. Is it possible that as a mother, she's conflicted by those reports?

HEY IDIOTS - She spoke about him in the recorded sit-down interview, and in the red carpet interviews as well.

Jesus is this woman getting unfair scrutiny.
