Judge Rules That Same-Sex Marriages Can Start Happening Immediately In Chicago! Windy City For The Win!

It's official! Start popping that champagne, Chicagoans!

A federal judge just ruled that same-sex couples can start getting married immediately in the Chicago area, pushing it forward from the June 1st date mandated in the Illinois bill that legalized same-sex marriage in the state.

Because the bill passed by only one vote in November, it didn't have the requisite yeas to put it into effect before June 1st.

However, after the ACLU and Lambda Legal won a lawsuit in December, which granted same-sex couples where one of the partners had a terminal illness the right to marry, they sought to have all gay couples the right to marry ASAP in Cook County, which they just won!

U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman had this to say about the momentous decision:

“Since the parties agree that marriage is a fundamental right available to all individuals and should not be denied, the focus in this case shifts from the 'we can’t wait' for terminally ill individuals to 'why should we wait' for all gay and lesbian couples that want to marry. To paraphrase Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: the time is always ripe to do right.”

And the icing on the cake is that the Cook County Clerk David Orr is keeping Chicago’s downtown marriage bureau open late until 7 p.m. for those who want to get a license tonight.

Congrats to everyone who can start getting married in the Windy City area!

One judge negated the votes of millions of people. Is this how a democracy is suppose to work?

Marriage. Pffft. All it really is… is the right to lose half your assets to an asshole (gays, literally). I spent my twenties avoiding marriage out of fear of the consequences of it. Marriage only benefits people dreaming of a big alimony payout. A man who only makes $35,000 knows that he can milk a woman making $440,000 a year dry at divorce (divorce is a win for losers). So he will be all for marriage. He has nothing to lose and all to gain. People with nothing to lose love marriage. But I'm always the breadwinner in my relationships.. so… I will lose big time at divorce.
If the divorce rate was, say, 15% and the infidelity rate, say, 6% … then I'd be all for it. I'm married to my business and employees. I dont need a spouse. Nobody does. I can father children outside wedlock (millions of males have). It boggles my mind how gays want what I fear and avoid. (the best prenup is "I dont"). Becareful what you wish for.

I get paid over $87 per hour working from home with 3 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I've been doing, ,WORKJURY.COM

    Re: The Matrix

The judge drawing a comparison between black civil rights leader Martin Luther King and the GAY AGENDA is really sickening…. The african americans were a disenfranchised descriminated against minority. To compare homosexuality with the black experience is just ignorant. Hopefully the smart adults in Chicago will figure away to nullify this ONE JUDGES decision to honor the will of the majority of the people.

Re: StraightAgendaRe: The Matrix – The majority is not allowed to vote on the rights of the minority. That's not democracy, trolls…

All laws that ban same sex marriage should be struck down because it violates the EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE of the constitution!

Re: Teresa Andrews – I would not be absent. A serious girlfriend who is the mother of my kids is MORE than welcome to live in my house for as long as she can stand me without gouging my eyes out. Non marital cohabitation is becoming more and more popular. But non married couples do not "divorce". When an ex GIRLFRIEND takes half of your assets upon breakup… its called THEFT. She's going to jail.
