Chris Brown Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder, Insomnia, & PTSD - Rehab Docs Say That Why He's So Violent!

| Filed under: RihannaDrugsLegal MattersChris BrownRehab

chris brown diagnosed bipolar ii post traumatic stress disorder insomnia self medicating aggravation courtroom rehab rihanna anger ptsd

It looks like all this extra time in rehab for Breezy is really paying off!

According to new documents that surfaced today in the courtroom, the doctors at Chris Brown's rehab facility diagnosed him with some pretty serious conditions!

They say he has Bipolar II Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and even insomnia!!!

Not only that, but aparently Breezy is "inappropriately self-medicating," too! Yikes!!

In their statement, the facility's doctors admitted:

"Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD."

Wow!!! They didn't say what traumatic stress caused his PTSD, nor did they say which substances he's self-medicating with, but it all sounds pretty serious either way!

It's not all discouraging news, though. The statement also says Chris has tested negative for drugs — including weed — since he's been checked in and that he's found a few relaxation techniques to help get him through the day!

They added:

"Mr. Brown's attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities."

Well, there you go.

In case you'd forgotten, Chris was in court today for a progress hearing relating to the probation he received for mercilessly beating Rihanna back in 2009.

We hope he continues receiving the treatment — he's already been there longer than expected — he so desperately needs.

PTSD? Really? For what? That diagnoses sure is thrown around a lot lately. It is a serious condition, and having people trivialize it is really harmful to those who truly suffer from it - like war vets who have had real trauma.

lol uhm i have those too. in fact those are the LEAST of what i have. i alsohave depression, aniexty, brain damage in the frontal lobe, ect. so suck it the fuck up you abusive son of a bitch. and i agree with the last comment, but you should know not only war vets get ptsd. i have it and ive never been to war…

Re: rosebud99 – Your also not making the situation any better either by attacking someone who might actually be suffering from the disorder. Some of these people are already suffering in silence. Whether it'a Chris Brown or somebody unknown. It can happen to anyone. Also Chris witness his mother being abused by his Dad and Step Dad during his childhood, that in itself must have been very traumatic, especially for a child.

Are you sure it wasn't ADD/ADHD? PTSD is usually resverved for soldiers, rape victims, molested children. I swear I just thought of it as I was typing. RIhanna beat him so badly he's traumatized.

Re: TT – You're right. There is a possibility the Chris was traumatized severely enough to suffer from PTSD. But I am afraid it is more likely that he is using these diagnoses as an excuse for his bad behaviour.

Re: karen – It's absolutely not reserved for soldiers and vets. It's quite possible that he has PTSD, many women/children who have been abused have it. Not to excuse his behaviour, he needs to be punished for it just like anyone else, but to have it recognized and treated appropriately is not just good for him but for everyone around him.

Re: rosebud99 – PTSD can occur in anyone at any time. As a veteran, im lucky enough to have never experienced it. But anything can cause PTSD. What's traumatic to you may not be traumatic to others. Being homeless can cause PTSD just like stepping on an IED can cause PTSD. It's not fair to anyone suffering from PTSD to downplay what can or cannot cause it. If the experts at his rehabilitation center confirm PTSD, then that's what it is. Hopefully he's being treated and that's that. No sense it denying he has problems when he's gone through most of his problems in the public eye.

Re: karen – I think you need to educate yourself on the disorder before you apply to med school. PTSD is definitely not a reserved disorder. It applies to anyone who is shocked by a traumatic event and doesn't deal with it properly.

The PSTD is probably secondary to the DV he witnessed as a child. It can be more traumatic for a child to watch his primary caregiver(mom) be abused then to be a victim of abuse themselves. Partly fear of loosing the person they love and cares for them. It has been proven that being in a traumatic environment changes the chemistry in the brain from the excessive adrenalin and other hormones secreted at the time of a traumatic event. This is what happens. Nothing Chris could and not his fault. The chemical in-balance has been found to be treatable with medication. Another thing about un treated PTSD they victim many times re-creates the traumatic event unconsciously over again. In addition many people with PTSD and or mood disorders use substances to try to self medicate. Based on what I know I agree with the PTSD diagnosis the point is none of this is anything Chris had any control of however now that he knows about his diagnosis it is his responsibility to deal with it and that it is what he is doing. I cant comment on the bi-polar diagnosis because I do not know what symptoms he had that lead his psychiatrists to that conclusion. So anyway folks quit being so mean can we try a little compassion for a change?

A couple of years ago there was an excellent article suggesting Chris has PTSD from the massive hate campaign launched against him after his 2009 conviction. Some of you will shake your heads but it makes sense to me - how traumatic is this experience of the media trying to paint you as a disgusting human being. But these shrinks are going a bit overboard - dude doesn't seem THAT messed up!

Re: sarah – Chris Brown recently said he lost his virginity to a 14-15 y/o when he was only 8. He said it was what kid were doing at the time. I'll assume his PTSD came from molestation or some kind of sexual/physical abuse when he was a child.

Chris Brown has been thru a lot of stuff growing up. From domestic abuse etc…. Yes,he's done wrong. Not excusing that. But,if you don't know him personally. Don't judge. Now he's getting the help he needs. Move along….

He was raped as a child, right? That would explain the PTSD. And if he really is bipolar, wow. That would explain a lot.

Re: rosebud99 – Years ago I was diagnosed with depression (which I definitely had) and PTSD ( which I did not). Just because I lost time doesn't mean I had PTSD, it meant I was depressed, or so I believe. But I'm not a professional. :

I also had a psychiatrist tell me she believed I was abused by a cult. Let me tell you - there was nothing I said to her that led her to that diagnosis. Nada. Scary. If I didn't have my wits about me, I might have grasped onto that and made it my past.

Who says you have to be a fucking veteran to suffer from PTSD? Are you fucking people retarded? Have you ever heard of intergenerational trauma? How do you know what Chris has been through in his life anyways? If he has major anger issues it is because he went through A LOT in his life. That includes RACISM. Racism and abuse is what whites have subjected us to but will never take responsibility for. You act like just because he is a celebrity now that his life is suppose to be flawless and that he can easily handle you jobless losers talking trash about him all day and night for 5 years. You can get PTSD from watching someone you are close to get abused, getting raped or molested and even facing a near death experience or escaping from a life threatening accident. You white slobs and pigs have NO RIGHT judging someone you don't know. Keep your ignorant comments to yourselves. We may live in a free country but that doesn't give you the right to judge our brothas and put them through hell for what YOUR PEOPLE do all the time to US and your kids and spouse.

    Good f***ing day.

How about this. You leave him the fuck alone and worry about your own screwed up life.

I have ADD, type I bipolar disorder (which is worse than type II), anxiety disorder, horrible insomnia and depression so I know first hand that having those disorders is absolutely no excuse for acting the way that he does. All of that may sound like a lot but even with those, he is able to act like any other respectable human being, although I believe he doesn't for the sole reason that hes just a twisted, self-loving shithead. I hate people who use their disorders to justify their behavior and use them as an excuse to treat the world anyway they please. He's no different than anyone else because everyone has their own set of problems, he deserves not one ounce of pity.

Why is his personal shiz being put out publicly? Did his rehab unprofessionally let this out, or did his camp? Leave him to work on his stuff. PTSD CAN originate from non combat situations.
Re: Black Power – You white slobs and pigs have NO RIGHT judging someone you don't know. - Neither do you. Slobs and pigs? How OLD are you? Try having an opinion where you don't put your dukes up or call people names, and then they might even listen. Plus there are non whites on here.

PTSD? Hmm. I would think Rihanna has PTSD after the beating he gave her. For sure. PTSD does not only occur in military persons in combat. Happens to many due to traumatic situation(s) Unfortunately I diagnosed myself decade ago but not getting any help. Mental Health Community Sucks! Go to 8 shrinks and you will get 8 different diagnoses. And the DSM V is a waste of a book. Their bible and use it to place labels on too many. They need help for sure. Recently found out my shrink has a limited practice, lost license in another state, stopped too many times -alcohol, cannibis, marijuana! I don't know what to do about him now. Happened to look up Healthgrades and something intution? led me to his name. Wow. So Chris Brown think of Rihanna. And just suck it up and learn and grow.

ok look at how dude has been treated since the rihanna incident and you wonder what ptsd is about? you don`t need to go to war to suffer from that. but try being a public enemy and you can`t go anywhere without somebody trying to get you in trouble. people boycotting you every time your trying to do your job. like you wouldn`t be stressed out by that. c`mon people you don`t have to like him to connect the dots here.

millions of people have those disorders but they arent all violent. I think its MUCH more likely that chris just has violent genes. Scientists have discovered a genetic link to aggression eons ago. So you can medicate all you want but those genes are still there like herpes. He will still have outbreaks. Controlling those genes requires anger management control. It requires mind over matter. The reason the ghetto is violent is not because they are all bipolar. Its not because they all have PTSD or insomnia. Its not because of poverty (some of the poorest countries on earth have low homicide rates). Its not because of racism (eastern immigrant minorities have lower violence rates than the national average) Its because they bred themselves to be violent. The reason honduras is ALWAYS high homicide and never has a low year.. is genes. He inherited violent genes. I inherited whimpy nerdy passive genes. To reduce human violence, females need to be much more careful what semen fertilizes them. Violent semen.. begats violence.

I obviously don't know Chris Brown but to People tend to forget that he was a child star. He has spoken about his life before the fame but there maybe other trauma that he experienced once he entered the dangerous entertainment industry. Most stars come out with their autobiography years later once people forget about them. Btw, he has not played the victim role, a report from the rehab doctors was placed in his court documents. Im pretty sure he didn't want the world to know his diagnosis.
