12 years a slave

Writers of the world, rejoice! This is your moment!!

John Ridley took home his first ever award at the Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay for his phenomenal work on 12 Years a Slave!

He had some stiff competition as he was up against films such as Before Midnight
, The Wolf of Wall Street
, Captain Phillips, and Philomena!

Sure, Robert De Niro might not have the highest opinion of writers, but you just walked away with a golden trophy!

Way to go, John!

    He definitely deserved it.

Was there some cold weirdness between Ridley and director Steve McQueen? He thanked everyone but McQueen, didn't acknowledge him while walking up to the stage, and didn't appear to go up with the Best Picture crowd. Reading too much into it?

David - I thought the same thing. Ridley ignored McQueen and McQueen barely clapped for him.

Wonder what the deal is; Ridley may have been ticked off about writing the script "for free" initially, which he has consistently maintained.
