According the EW reporters who were typing commentary behind-the-scenes live: " Julia Roberts moved to tears in Dolby bar after listening to Bette Midler. Companion grabs bar napkin to blot her tears and Cate Blanchett comforts her from nearby. Now those two are deep in conversation." Later, Blanchett told E! News that she nearly missed her big moment as she was drinking with fellow actress Julia Roberts at the bar. "The blessing and the curse of this is that [the award] happens at the arse end of the evening," she said. "You watch so many other extraordinary people go up there and you lose track of the fact that you're even nominated, and you get taken by surprise, and 'it's my turn'."

Am I the only one who thinks the suck it comment was a dig at SANDRA BULLOCK?!?

Cate insulted Sandra's movie by saying she felt like it took a lifetime to watch it, then immediately turns to Julia Roberts and says "hashtag, suck it, you know what I mean?"

And Julia cracks up while the camera goes back to Sandra later who is blinking back tears.

So not an epic Julia diss at all - maybe a Sandra one, but definitely not a Julia one.

Re: mrsjs15 – I totally agree with you. I felt bad for Sandra… Cate was not classy.
