Scarlett Johansson Finally Addresses Woody Allen Molestation Scandal, But Don't Assume She's Siding With Dylan Farrow!

scarlett johansson woody allen comment on molestation accusation

This is awkward.

Dylan Farrow called out a slew of celebs when she wrote an open letter accusing Woody Allen of molestation.

And while Cate Blanchett addressed the matter early on, Scarlett Johansson is now taking on the matter, but her statement might not be what you expect.

In fact, Scarlett does not think her name, or the names of other celebs who've worked with and supported Woody, should have been brought up:

"I think it’s irresponsible to take a bunch of actors that will have a Google alert on and to suddenly throw their name into a situation that none of us could possibly knowingly comment on. That just feels irresponsible to me."

But that's not all she had to say on the matter!

She also commented on what this might do to his career…or in her opinion, what it won't do to his career:

"I’m unaware that there’s been a backlash. I think he’ll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I’m sure the other people involved have their own experience with it. It’s not like this is somebody that’s been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, ‘I don’t support this lifestyle or whatever.’ I mean, it’s all guesswork … I don’t know anything about it. It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other."

This seems like a pretty strong statement for someone who wants to stay out of it!

We wonder if she'll be getting a response from Dylan or anyone else involved.

I agree with her statements. No one knows what the situation is and it's quite strange that Dylan decided to involve people who didn't even know Woody at the time of the alleged incident. I think people believe Woody is guilty because of his very bizarre relationship with Mia's adoptive daughter (he technically was not the adoptive parent). He was not convicted of a crime, there have been no other victims that have come forward and unfortunately Mia Farrow's credibility is lacking. I don't know what happened and we can all attempt to speculate and people will ultimately pick sides. But why bring in basically employees of this man into a personal issue.

The person that was molested is the one that brought the story forward. It's great to know all of you would side would the accused. God bless America, and not the children.

She should've just left it at the first statement. The second one was completely unneeded.

This woman is dumb as a stump. Who cares what she thinks about anything?

why would someone who fckd her way into showbusiness bite the hands that feed her? Shes dumb, but she's not retarded. let's see what happens if her kid complains to her about being molested. I hope she quotes herself here when that happens. the buffoon.

The second statement is weird. Why bring lifestyle into this? Molesting children is not a lifestyle…it is a crime we find very excusable and clearly is always the fault of the victim. FFS this society sucks.

    Very well said!
    "accused" does not mean "guilty"
just because someone said something happened, does not make it true. it is yet to be proven if Dylan actually is a victim, so there is no blame on a "victim" yet.

Hello! I have been looking for an online job for a long time and I have finally found one. It doesn't take up to much time and so easy you could do it while watching television! All you have to do is listen to 90 seconds of music and then rate and describe what you think about it. No upfront fees. Doesn't cost to join. So easy to do! Just copy and paste this link and you can get started earning right away!

She made the choice to work with a known pedophile and rapist. She says he was "never convicted", but she's ignoring the fact that the court proceedings from the 90s found him to be guilty. The only reason he was never convicted is because the trial was stopped so as to not traumatize Dylan.
If you want to work with a pedophile, then you HAVE to be ready to take accountability for it. None of this "I dunno, I dunno" bullshit. Of course you know.
Plus she's pregnant. How would she feel if her child were one day molested by someone like Woody Allen? I hope she learns some compassion for children while raising this child.
Scarlett Johansson is actually my favourite modern actress - I've watched all of her movies and whenever I see her face on the cover of a magazine, I buy it - but her stance on this issue has completely turned me off her. This has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Ugh.

Re: Bree – sorry but you are wrong, he was never found guilty. if someone is found guilty, they would get convicted regardless. He was never charged in the first place. the accusations came out in the middle of the divorce/custody battle. Its total bullshit that they weren't going through with pressing charges because it would traumatize Dylan. if that's the case every child molestation case wouldn't be processed. it's the simple fact that there was no evidence whatsoever. just the word of the girl with absolutely nothing to support it. the brother who supported her "claims" back then recently came out in support of Woody and said it was all Mia's doing and manipulation.
Mia is mentally unstable manipulative bitch.
Scarlett's response is very correct and respectful

She's absolutely correct. Why the F was she and other actors called out? for Google hits and media sensationalism especially since the first named actor was the Oscar Best Actress frontrunner.

Tacky tacky. Good on Scarlett for echoing the truth and calling out Dylan/Mia's tackiness and irresponsibility.
