st patricks day parades lgbt community intolerance sam adams heineken boycott

St. Patrick's Day is a time-honored holiday meant to bring people together, often in a drunken stupor; it should NOT be an instrument to tear them apart!

The celebration isn't about race, gender, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or even ethnicity — it's about wearing green & binge drinking until you see Leprechauns enjoying an adult beverage responsibly!

Whether it's dying a river green or simply having a parade, most major U.S. celebrate the holiday in some official capacity. Unfortunately, the festivities in several cities — including Boston & NYC — are actually quite intolerant to the LGBT community!

They've gone so far as to forbid LGBT supporters from marching openly in the parade!!!

Thankfully, not everyone is cool with these narrow-minded shenanigans! Earlier we told you Sam Adams was pulling out, but apparently they aren't the only ones!!!

Heineken & Guinness, two other major beer manufactures that traditionally partner with St. Patrick's Day parades, has decided to severe a few ties!

Ugh! As disappointed as we are to learn about the parade organizers' intolerance, it's really nice to see companies taking a stand!

We're sure it would be easy for Heineken and Guinness to look the other way and rake in the cash, but this boycott shows they're about more than getting rich!!!

You just said it yourself. The parades aren't about sexual orientation, it's about celebrating Irish culture. Anyone is allowed to march in the NYC parade, you just can't fly your gay pride flag or anything else that will detract from Irish culture. You have your own parade to fly your flags why do you have to fly it on St Patrick's Day when it's not about sexual orientation?

First of all Boston is not intolerant city. Don't forget that Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage almost TEN years ago. The people who organized the parade are intolerable. Also Mayor Menino banned Chickfila to come to Boston.

So, if we went on Perez's theory then Westboro Babptist Church should be allowed to march in a gay pride parade…:) "Equality for all " ….right ?

Im gay and even I think Perez doesn't see past his nose.

Leave it to the gays to try to inject themselves and their homosexual agenda into everything. Can you please SHUT IT. St. Patrick's Day is about being Irish or at least being an honorary Irish person for a day. It's not about who sticks whose weenie into what orifice.

I agree with the posters. Shut the fuck up about your fuckin sex. That's my main hate on the gays. Just shut your fuckin faces. It is basically about where you stick your face and your dick, and I don't want to hear about it from straight people. In fact I do not want to hear anything about your sex or love life. I do not want to hear it, including from the very sexual woman I know who walked in the other morning and said "Happy Steak and Blowjob Day" casually like it was nothing…. It's like ??? You know what, I'm a 40 year old man, had many blowjobs in my life, and I honestly didn't even know it was "steak and blowjob day" That sounds disgusting. Maybe I'm old but it makes me want to vomit. That's what you counter Valentines Day with a month later You fuckin pigs.

I don't want to here shit from you fucking homos either. Not a fucking word. Get fucked and shut up about it. Calm your fuckin hormones you retarded monkeys. It's only sex.

Re: ghound – I agree, they have to try to insert themselves into everything to make it about sex. Put a sock in it already. No one cares who you have sex with, STFU

Actually ST. PATRICK's day is a religious holiday. It's named after a catholic saint. Therefore it's a catholic holiday that people have bastardized and then feel that they can bitch about because they don't feel included.

Actually, St. Patrick's Day is 100% about religion and ethnicity.
It's the feast day of the patron saint of Ireland; St. Patrick.
This whole association with alcoholism is to do with the fact that in Ireland on St. Patrick's day, years ago, vows of abstaining from alcohol during Lent were lifted on the 17th of March in honour of St. Patrick. So again, it has EVERYTHING to do with religion.
and nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Saying LGBT should be entitled to wave their flag or whatever in a st. Patrick's Day parade would be the equivalent of saying any other movement or organisation should be entitled to do so. It's not at all what the day is about. Not everything is about sexual orientation, get over it.
Also, St. Patrick's day is about celebrating Irish culture and ethnicity, not every other kind of such.
