Donna Perry is being charged with murder for the slaying of three women in the early 1990s.
But according to court documents, Donna wasn't always Donna. Back when the murders were committed, before her sexual reassignment surgery, she was "Douglas."
And this alleged serial killer seems to think she can use her identity change as a defense against the murder charges!
According to her affidavit, Donna told police:
"I'm not going to admit I killed anybody, I didn't. Donna has killed nobody… I don't know if Doug did or not, it was 20 years ago and I have no idea whether he did or did not."
Well, whether Donna remembers or not, there's no statute of limitations on murder, and prosecutors apparently have DNA evidence linking her to the crimes.
If Donna continues with her argument, it may be the first time in legal history someone has attempted to use gender reasignment as a defense.
Obviously being transgender doesn't excuse you from your actions. We just hope no one thinks it causes them either.
