Emma Watson with long, luscious red locks and a fin??! We're into it!

The leading lady is rumored to be in the running to star as Ariel in Sofia Coppola's The Little Mermaid!

A source spilled:

“Sofia wants Emma, and the pair have such a respect for each other, it would be very surprising if they carry on without each other. Movie companies Universal and Working Title want to move quickly on the project, so expect an announcement soon.”

No doubt they're comfortable together after making movie magic with The Bling Ring!

While Emma would, of course, do a very good job in ANY role she plays, we wouldn't mind seeing an unknown actress strap on that seashell bra to swim under the sea.

DO YOU think Emma Watson should play Ariel in The Little Mermaid?!

Isn't she already Belle in Beauty & The Beast? I love Emma, but let's set a one princess limit.

Does this rumor actually have any truth to it at all? Or is it just talk of Sofia Copolla's new film combined with Mugglenet's April Fool's joke?
