OkCupid Blocks Firefox Because Of Their Anti-Gay CEO!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLove LineTech TalkGIFsLGBT

Sound the trumpet, and call the hounds! It's time to go Firefox hunting!

The newly anointed CEO of Firefox, Brendan Eich, reportedly gave a $1,000 donation back in 2008 to support the thankfully now defunct Prop 8.

In a very upstanding move, OkCupid has subsequently blocked its website (partially) to anyone using Firefox.

Meanwhile, the following, AH-Mazing message appears to anyone wishing to access OkCupid from the aforementioned browser:

"Hello there, Mozilla Firefox user. Pardon this interruption of your OkCupid experience.

Mozilla’s new CEO, Brendan Eich, is an opponent of equal rights for gay couples. We would therefore prefer that our users not use Mozilla software to access OkCupid.

Politics is normally not the business of a website, and we all know there’s a lot more wrong with the world than misguided CEOs. So you might wonder why we’re asserting ourselves today. This is why: we’ve devoted the last ten years to bringing people—all people—together. If individuals like Mr. Eich had their way, then roughly 8% of the relationships we’ve worked so hard to bring about would be illegal. Equality for gay relationships is personally important to many of us here at OkCupid. But it’s professionally important to the entire company. OkCupid is for creating love. Those who seek to deny love and instead enforce misery, shame, and frustration are our enemies, and we wish them nothing but failure.

If you want to keep using Firefox, the link at the bottom will take you through to the site.

However, we urge you to consider different software for accessing OkCupid:"

Our infinite praise goes out to OkCupid. Way to stick up for your users!

It's a ethical move to make sure that same-sex couples meeting on OkCupid don't eventually (even in some small way) lead to the success of someone like Brendan.

Now, everyone keep hooking up on Chrome, and Internet Explorer! They're good to go!

Omg! They should block internet access to all those who voted for proposition 8, and all those who call themselves homophobic!
Oh wait. They will never do this, because ultimately they will lose a lot of money for a stupid powertrip!
"And for sure, this gesture represents in no way some form of pressure or imposition of gay beliefs on others…"

Land of freedoms? Yeah.. it's that…
