Whilst the spin-off has yet to be picked up for an actual season, comparisons between the two are already starting to be made, and HIMYD star Greta Gerwig is here to set the record straight!
Greta is set to play Sally, the main character in the CBS spin-off, and being a fan of the original series, she obviously couldn't miss the series finale!
"I loved it so much. No, I wanted [Ted and Robin] to [end up together]! I'm such a schmaltzy person. It's like, yes, I know that Annie Hall is the best ending of all time when they don't end up together. But really, in my heart of heart of hearts … I love in When Harry Met Sally when they end up together. I'm a little too corny for the sadder version."
Too sweet! Almost everyone in the world is a sucker for happy endings, minus the cynics of course!
But, should we expect the same fate for How I Met Your Dad? According to the lead actress in the spin-off, HIMYD will be totally different than its predecessor.
"It's going to be different than the original. When the premise of the show is that it's a young man looking for his true love, it's a very different feeling than a young woman looking for her true love. Craig [Thomas] and Carter [Bays] are making it too, and Emily Spivey is so funny and great. She wrote for SNL for a long time, and wrote the show Up All Night, and I'm in love with her."
Well, let's just hope Craig, Carter, and Emily don't have preconceived notions of how they want the ending of HIMYD to go.
We don't think the internet can take another death hit!
