Simon Cowell Lowers The Age Limit On X Factor In Hopes Of Finding The Next Best Thing — A.K.A, Another One Direction!

| Filed under: Simon CowellX FactorOne DirectionReality TV

simon cowell lowers x factor age two years 14

It's pretty much safe to say Simon Cowell is the driving force behind One Direction's success!

He did pick those boys and grouped them together when they appeared on X Factor the very first time. But even though they placed third in the competition, they're certainly number one in every tween's heart at the moment!

So, it's no surprise that the X Factor judge wants to recreate that success with another, younger band, that's why he lowered the age limit from 16 to 14!

A source close to the situation is claiming:

"Simon knows that young people make the best pop stars. He desperately wants another One Direction or Cher Lloyd and they were very young when they appeared on the show."

Young people may make the best pop stars, but 14 might be a little too young for a competition show!

Think of the emotional distress these kids could go through when they're rejected!

So Perezilicious readers, do U think the new age limit is appropriate?!

I think it is horrible to subject a child to that kind of pressure and that kind of rejection. Of course a talented kid will want to participate, but their parents are nuts if they let them. The lure of fame and money is strong. Strong enough for parents to jeopardize their child's health and safety. Isn't there laws about children on reality shows?

I am extremely happy because I'm young and this allows me to follow my dreams sooner as well, it isn't like people the age of 14 or above are being forced to enter the competition show, it is a decision that they choose to make. As long as the parents are okay with it and make sure that it is known to the contestant wanna be that the chances of winning can be very slight and that if they get rejected or if they eventually go home it happens to everyone and that the parents make sure that the contestants feelings won't be hurt, then it should be fine as well certain people that age are very mature and responsible, even more so than people double or triple their age depending on the person.

I do think it is a little low as it could interfere with reality life. There are few winners in this business. But on the other hand there are some amazingly talented kids at 14 ….as long as the parents are for real backing them and supporting their potential falls …. I say go for it.

I think that 14 is WAY to young, and to lower the age for Simon's person gain is not right!
He opposed the 16 hr min. on American Idol, for good reasons that he spouted to us all, and we agreed.
Now, suddenly, it's OK to exploit very young boys for his monetary gain…..just no right Simon, and you know it.
How's about you button up your shirt and stop parading around like some hot young stud with pecs.
I've never found Man Boobs attractive at all, so show some modesty, esp around the young female contestants!!!
