miley cyrus admits to battling depression

This takes some strength, gurlfriend! We salute you!

Miley Cyrus has opened up to Elle magazine about her past struggles with depression and we couldn't be more proud of her!

The Wrecking Ball singer admitted that when she was younger, she was so depressed that at one point she locked herself in her room & Billy Ray Cyrus had to break down the door to get her out!

WHOA! That's pretty serious!

She explained:

“It’s totally okay to feel sad. I went through a time where I was really depressed. Like, I locked myself in my room and my dad had to break my door down. It was a lot to do with, like, I had really bad skin, and I felt really bullied because of that. But I never was depressed because of the way someone else made me feel, I just was depressed.”

Oh, wow! We're SO happy Mileybird has both recovered from her depression AND feels confident enough to share her struggles with the world!

Ya never know how her story can help other people who are currently battling the illness!

We love this truth-talking Miley! Keep it up, gurlfriend!

Sharon Stone is in a hospital in Sao Paulo… David Uip, the doctor in charge of her is the same of the former president of Brazil, Lula.

She makes no sense whatsoever. She was bullied but nobody made her feel bad? This girl should seriously stop doing interviews. Her mental illness always shows. Plus, her lack of formal education.

So hard to tell if she was truly depressed, or if she was just being a drama queen. If she really does battle with depression, I feel for her - she is going to have some tough times when the novelty of her vulgarity fades and people become bored with her.

The fact that miley says that its ok to feel sad because she went through depression shows that she was never actually depressed. People who are depressed do not feel "sad" (in the simplest definition of the word) but feel almost numb, or as if they have an absence of feelings in general (although there is much more to depression then just that). To me, it sounds like miley was just being an overdramatic teenager.

So she got stoned and she forgot the "depression".
    Great.
She makes everything look so easy. I might buy a new dog when my current diez because, ya know, Miley showed us pets are disposable.

If she was professionally diagnosed with depression, then I would take her word for it. However, I cannot relate to her as I also have it but have been diagnosed professionally. Depression isn't something you can just claim to have, it's a serious thing. I agree with the comment below about how it doesn't make you feel 'sad', but numb. So for now, I'm not taking her word for it.

Seriously? This girl is ridiculous. It's a shame the media even gives her the time of day and that people actually BUY this BS. Depression I can understand, but blaming it on acne? Depression is a mental illness. Not I had a bad day because I got a zit.

Like do you really think people are going to feel sorry for her? She is such a bad influence all around. If she is going to be depressed about something, than maybe that should be all the destruction she's done to the younger generation with her drug and sex antics. Leading teens and tweens down bad paths because of her celebrity. Gross.

My advice for Miley? Go to school and get an education. Volunteer your time and get your act together. If you don't, you'll just be another fast track celeb headed for rehab time and time again.

And honestly? This act is tired. Grow up.

Teen hormones and corresponding acne can have them down one week, up the next.
Teens can be all over the place, but there are several types of actual depression and they vary in severity.

Miley isn't the ridiculous one.. you guys are. You guys find any opportunity to say something bad about a celebrity. You don't even know them on a personal level so don't jump to conclusions about how she doesn't know what depression is or she was never actually depressed. What she's saying could be bullshit but it could also be true. Maybe she has been diagnosed for depression, maybe not. However, almost everyone has a point in their life where they suffer from severe sadness and heartache. She's just saying that it is okay to go through that period in life, you will get better eventually. Why can't you guys just let her be… LOOL this is why I question society. All you wanna do is judge. :)
