Rush Limbaugh HATES That Stephen Colbert Will Replace David Letterman, Says CBS "Has Declared War" On Middle America!

rush limbaugh hates stephen colbert selection for late night says cbs waging war on america

Rush Limbaugh is mad. REALLY mad. It's not the first time something has really chafed his arse and it probably won't be the last time, but this time the dude is straight-up pissed!!

While 98.7% of the world rejoiced when CBS announced that Stephen Colbert would fill its David Letterman-shaped Late Show void next year, there are still some who are not as pleased as punch!

Rush, for instance, a wildly popular pundit and radio host amongst conservative America, thinks the selection is tantamount to CBS waging war on its very own country!

On his show today, in response to the news, Rush offered:

"CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America. No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatives, now it's just wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and a redefinition of what is comedy… The world is changing, people don't want the kind of comedy that [Johnny] Carson gave us, or even Letterman."

Hashtag hyperbole!

We understand that Mr. Colbert has basically made his name skewering right-wing demagogues by, well, pretending to be one and having the world laugh about the silliness of it all, but he's not anti-American! We're sure he will do his best to cater to the entire TV-devouring nation!

Take a chill pill, Rush! On second thought, maybe you shouldn't

Maybe Rushie is just jealous because he wasn't asked. Who still listens to that blowhard anyway? I thought he stopped being relevant years ago. I love Stephen Colbert and can't wait to see him take Letterman's spot. I will miss him on Comedy Central though. He and Jon Stewart are part of my nightly ritual.

Colbert, Stewart & Maher are the greatest gifts liberals could give to the Tea Party. They make jokes out of serious issues, making it easier for Americans to dismiss the serious problems our country needs to deal with. Rush should throw a party for him.

Great, fill up the late night talk shows with more liberal assholes.
What if they got someone who wasnt a political asshole, and someone who is just a comedian, who will make great tv no matter what you vote?

I'M predicting that Colbert ends up doing the Carnival Cruise Line circuit
which already has Joy Behar on the program
CBS should have found a strong talented woman for that spot

Maher - example of one's insides matching one's outside.

Can't normally stay up that late to watch, but I would have liked either Bill Maher or Ellen, both of whom are really funny. IMO Bill seems to also attack some ridiculous liberals as well as the conservatives. Only listened to Ross once, he was a little funny at the the time but a bit too far right of center for me.

Rush is disgusting. He espouses myopic views that cater to the narrowest of minds. He is devoid of moral character, a hypocrite. And, most of all, in person he reeks. He smells like the toxic stew brewing inside of him. His blind followers do themselves a reel disservice by not looking more honestly at the cretin.

While Steven Colbert may not be everyone's cup of tea, Rush Limbaugh is a total hypocrite douche. At least Rush preaches to the choir and isn't able to rope in new meat.

This coming from a Narcissistic Windbag who’s only purpose in life is to inflame one side of the Political spectrum while inciting the other with his ill-conceived comments.

This kind of partisanship is why religion and politics weren't recommended at parties.
Colbert and Rush's shows were kind of designed to tackle politics, but a good journalist or broadcaster can remain neutral and objective and keep above the fray to promote 360 degree discussion. The better the discussion, the clearer the solutions. Shows that take stances lose credibility as they look to have an agenda. Anyway, Colbert's new show is of a different and probably apolitical vein. That's where his learning curve will come in. It will likely be all about highlighting the guests, and not so much about him.
