Ruh roh! We hope this lawsuit doesn't go on for an eternity…like it was bit by a vampire or something!
Goldcrest Film Distribution, financier of the Twilight franchise, is suing Summit over profits from the box office!
They claim Summit, part of Lionsgate, was deceptive in its accounting, by downplaying the films' revenues, and exaggerating their costs. If this is true, that is more messed up than an undead 100-year-old hitting on a teenager!
Goldcrest also asserts that money it was owed by Lionsgate was actually instead given to talent in the form of bonuses.
They claim they put up $10 million for the quadrilogy, and that they discovered the financial discrepancies after hiring the accounting firm Hacker Douglas to conduct an audit.
After Lionsgate prevented a full audit by not agreeing to cooperate, Goldcrest filed suit!
Yikes! We'll see how this all resolves itself, but we imagine there will be many new moons before this case is potentially sent to court and settled.
