The day has finally come. Nirvana, one of the most influential bands in music history has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The momentous occasion comes almost exactly twenty years after lead singer Kurt Cobain’s death, whose memory was ever present at the ceremony in Brooklyn last night.

Joining the band for four emotional performances were four immensely talented ladies - Lorde, Joan Jett, Sonic Youth vocalist Kim Gordon and St. Vincent.

Each one stepped up to the mic to sing one of Nirvana’s now classic songs. 17-year-old Lorde channeled her inner ennui for a cover of All Apologies. Jett of course had to show she’s still very much a rock star with a rousing rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

St. Vincent performed Lithium while Gordon took on Aneurysm.

Just a truly amazing night for music.

Ch-ch-check out the performances (below)!

No doubt about it … Nirvana is one of the best bands of all time. They ruled the world back in the 90s for a while. They certainly deserved to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. All three of the guys in Nirvana deserve the credit. They were one of those rare groups with special chemistry.

It's a damn shame that Kurt couldn't get the help he needed. I bet he had 2-3 more Nirvana albums in him. Maybe more as a solo artist. Hell, people would just like him to be alive. He seemed to be a cool guy. It would be fine if he was retired and doing hobbies like painting or whatever if he couldn't handle the rock star lifestyle.

Really? Out of all the people they could have chosen, they picked a 16-yr-old girl that's had one hit on pop radio to honor Nirvana???

Lorde sounded terrible. Joan Jett rocked it.

Not many people can pull off "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Joan Jett rocked the shit out of it!! The other two sucked. Why would they have Lourde do a Nirvana song? Little girl doesn't have the right pipes for it. But more than anything, loved Dave and Krist together again doing Nirvana songs.

Their singer is dead, they had to pick a few people out. Joan….. who every rocker seems to love, Kim who is from Sonic youth and was/is friends with all of them probably since before the start, and it would not surprise me in the slightest if Kurt's daughter picked or suggested the other two.

They're probably more open minded about a few things these days.
