The Big Bang Theory Will Go Out With A Big Bang Sooner Than You Thought?!

| Filed under: TV NewsSad SadGIFs

And we were hoping Leonard and Penny's on-again off-again love story would go on forever!

The mega-hit sitcom was just renewed for three more season, but showrunner Steve Molaro is already assuming the 10th season will be the series' last — especially given that stars Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Johnny Galecki's contracts expire!

Steve said:

"I'm going to move forward along with [co-creator] Chuck [Lorre] that 10 is the end unless we're told otherwise. These are decisions that are so far away I can't really even think about that. I have no choice but to move forward … it's so far away…The mindset is it's going to be the 10 and then we'll see what happens after that."

WHAT??! That's a less than bangin' theory!!!!

Thank goodness we have three seasons to get used to the idea of a world without Sheldon every week!

Then again, considering even the show's reruns outperform other top-rated series, we're betting CBS will do just about ANYTHING to hold on to this HIGHlarious money train as long as they can — and we won't be mad about it! HA!

Fingers crossed Big Bang will see a season 11 and beyond!

I wish it would end now. I really like the show, but too many good sit-coms go on too long. It would be better to quit on a high note.

Agree with rosebud99. Some episodes were funny, but some were corny. What are they going to do? Everybody gets married has kids and then what?

in season six we see Howards return from space and spends
three episodes of bragging about it and see Sheldon in deep
water with human resources for branding assistant Alex and
all women as slaves to desirable urges after he also branded her
as an egg salad on an hot Texas summer day and forced to look
at an Encylopedia on transmitted diseases but later Sheldon drops
in Leonard for flirting with her Howard for abusing resources and creating
an robotic sex toy with three breasts and Rajesh for being mildly racist
and penny discovers that Leonard really finds being flirty hilarious and being
called ricardo shilly shally after being told by Sheldon at a private meeting
with the girls by branding Alex and Leonard tondelia and shilly shally later
Leonard serenades penny for being a jerk that ends up having sex and Sheldon
finds out that Rajesh is vastly wealthy but later Leonard treats penny like trash
by making her pay for her ticket to see an documentary on dams due to being sick
of seeing romantic comedies and then makes her pay for her drinks that leads
penny of having enough of this and ends up calling Leonard an asthmatic dumbass
while walking up the stairs and then after Leonard apologises to her infact she liked
it hilarious but the show will have it's end now the cast is getting old .

It was renewed for three more seasons and it was never implied it would last longer than that. If you thought otherwise it's your own problem.

Re: rosebud99 – I kind of agree with you, however, there doesn't seem to be an end game, it's not we're waiting for anything to happen like in HIMYM. And there are no kids that are outgrowing the show. I'm not saying that it should go on forever(although I wouldn't oppose to it) but it could go on a bit longer. At least in my opinion.

OH NO!!! How would I live without BBT every week?
Although it would be best to move forward but BBT is like the best sit-com eva!
Well, the only thing I can do now is to get use to it huh? *Sobx

This show has been - and still is - a huge treat! It all starts with that wonderful scripting and everything else depends on that basis; of course it can't go on indefinitely. There must come that time when the writers stare hollow-eyed at blank screens and know that the flannel has been wrung dry. I imagine the problem is acknowledging when . . . Know that the creative writing has been phenomenal and the actors et al have worked well to convey the words; this creation is already established as being special in tv comedy; immortality is assured! Like the Brit classic comedy of Monty Python's Flying Circus, those fun moments will still be quoted and laughed over in thirty years time. Celebrate the fact that it was performed and recorded. I suspect the toughest assignment will be writing the final episode - not too schmaltzy I'll bet, and closing with the knowledge that life goes on for the characters. With thanks to all involved for this wonderful entertainment!

10 Series is the right amount, thats how much friends had and how much the Simpsons should have had. End on a high note. Having said that, we're still on series 7 as of this post so still awhile to go.

We have 3 more years to enjoy the whole gang, a lot can happen in those 3 years and each new moment will be good. I am 79 and could be gone in 3 years, hope not because we surely do enjoy the show. Took us long enough to start watching because we thought it was anti Christ….then watched and realized it really isn't. Will miss the whole gang whenever it leaves the TV screen.

If the BBT continues like this current season I don't think anyone will be sad at it ending. They have taken one of the best sitcoms ever and dumbed it down to sexual innuendos and weak, unfunny plots. The writers must have changed or else they have run out of steam already.

Re: ter – sadly I agree. I am noticing a lot of jokes and story lines "borrowed" from past sitcoms. BBT was one of my favorites but real funny moments are getting far and few in between. They need better writes to carry it successfully another 3 years.

Hasn't anyone noticed, in the premise of this article, that 3 more years and season 10 are really the same thing? In other words, how can they be saying that it will end sooner, when it appears that everyone plans for it to end at the same time?

  16. Sean says – reply to this

    16

I for one hope it does not continue, I enjoy the show a lot and would like to see it end on an up note when it is still funny, instead of running to long and fizzling out.

They might do what they do for a lot of other sitcoms when they start rounding the bend - introduce a 'cute little kid' to the mix ….

The last interview I can remember reading from Alan (Sheldon) was that he wished the series had at the least 13 seasons, and he was willing to sign now. I don't know anything about what Kaley or Johnny think about this same thing, but I very much doubt they will kill of the goose of the golden eggs if they are offered enough money.

Two and a half men is going on their 12th season and more people complain about that show then how many people like it. Big Bang Theory is TVs number 1 comedy. It's not going anywhere. The actors love their job.
