After more than 50 years, Barbie is finally getting her own live action movie!
And not just that - Sony thinks gurl will be their next big franchise!
People have been trying to get the movie rights for a live action Barbie from Mattel for years! So how did Sony finally win them over? Apparently the female empowerment take on it from What A Girl Wants and Sex & The City writer Jenny Bicks is pitch perfect!
Barbie will use her special skills to step in and out of the lives of others, making everything around her better! Sort of like a modern day Emma - that is to say, like a MORE modern Cher from Clueless! LOLz!
But if they want a hit franchise, they're going to have to cast the absolute perfect gal to bring the plastic icon to life! Here are our top pics for the role of Barbie!
Kate Upton is far and away the obvious choice. She's obvi a perfect ten who even looks like a real-life Barbie, PLUS she just showed off her sense of humor in the hit comedy The Other Woman!
Emma Stone may be more petite than Barbie, but she just radiates loveliness into the world - just like the movie! Plus, she could just hop from one Sony franchise to another…
So far, Margot Robbie has tended towards more mature fare, but the near-perfect looking 23-year-old Wolf Of Wall Street star has the looks, the acting ability, and the star quality to lead the franchise for years!
Emily VanCamp has an old school grace that she could easily move from Revenge to paying it forward!
Katrina Bowden is best known for playing the ditzy Cerie on 30 Rock, but she's been working nonstop since then in roles of all kinds. She also looks about as Barbie as you can get!
Laura Vandervoort not only looks the part, she already played one girl who went around saving people - she was Supergirl on Smallville!
Ashley Benson would be a tiny little Barbie, but hey - still more than four feet taller than the original! LOLz!
Does Lupita Nyong'o not possess every quality we've been talking about? Beauty, poise, a joie de vivre? And she DEF makes the world around her better!
Setting people up, making friends wherever she goes, helping others instead of herself - we're pretty sure Taylor Swift IS a live action Barbie!
