It's life imitating art imitating Shonda Rhimes' drama-loving imagination!

Like we told you last week, actor Columbus Short has been accused of threatening to murder his wife!

Now it seems as if it may have cost him his job on one of network TV's most popular shows, Scandal! According to sources, he will not be returning next season and the allegations of violence surrounding his name are the reason why.

The 31-year-old actor just released a statement, confirming his departure. Columbus revealed:

"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today… Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast…"

Earlier this month, his wife Tanee accused the actor of coming home drunk, assaulting him, and even threatening to kill her.

Do U agree with ABC's apparent decision to nix Columbus' character from the hit drama?

Read his entire statement (below)

"At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank [creator] Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."

ABC, Scandal, everybody- it is time to rethink this logic of firing Columbus Short for shattering their attempts to portray the perfect cast, when not only does it not exist in reality. Scandal addresses murder, sex, violence, betray and every other devious topic, yet they fire an actor who is experiencing domestic violence. Great, now he is unemployed, black listed and his family will have less money to live on. Are we going to continue ignoring the ratings killer topic of domestic violence and let it sort itself out? It isn't such a great message for the black community in showing how to collaborate to solve problems. This makes no sense. ABC you cannot have it both ways and cherry pick what the audience wants to see. Fuck the audience, it is time for everyone to take responsibility and deal with this social problem. Otherwise change the content and theme of your show.

How is it that a person's private home life comes to jeopardize his career? Was he in jail when he was supposed to be filming? Scandal is the only show EVER on ABC Prime time with high powered African Americans EVER in TV history, working strong prominent roles! Why isn't the show trying to help him get some help!? If he's drinking or abusing drugs, shouldn't the powers that be for Scandal be more concerned about the root cause of his mental issues? He was putting forth some hard work for 3 years! Where is the loyalty? He could have taken a leave of absence and gotten some proper medical care with the best doctors! Actors do it all the time with rehab and they come right back and the character's shine afterwards! But since we're dealing with a African American out of the ONLY 3 on the show, with a lower fan base oh let's just fire him! That will surely help with resolving this issue! Had his celeb status been raised higher (to Will Smiths) the entire show would be rounding up to help him get through this. SMH! He's seriously disturbed, and there should be more focus on helping him put an end to his erratic behavior. 1 down SMH and then there were 2!

Sounds like he has a serious anger management problem.

In the early 2000's, I worked on a theatrical production that Columbus was in. He was a jerk back then, and he got in a fight with a female stagehand. I guess not much has changed. I'm glad to see him go.

I just read the wildest book about LA celebrity scandals.

Two models sexually blackmail their way to the top and they've got it made - they're living the super model high life - until the bad karma, in the shape of a psycho NFL star quarterback, catches up with them.

Then things get messy, real messy, as the footballer runs off the rails in the week before Super Bowl.

Check out Model Citizens Riding For A Fall @ Amazon. This story has got Hollywood movie written all over it.

Re: teeter totter – I don't think their concern for him is lacking. Business is business. People feel strongly about these issues. If his alleged behavior will in anyway affect the number of viewers tuning into the show (their reaction is understandable). I saw this coming from a mile away. It's like the Issiah Washington Scandal all over again. No one is safe. No matter how big your role, or how well you're liked. If you're not scandal free, you will be let go.

if the ceo of firefox has to step down because he (fully within his right) donated 1000 to support prop 8, 8 years ago, then beating your wife (which is not within his right) should be reason for termination.

I know this guy. It's a close family relative. I bet he's an Aries-pieces cusp baby with the ascendant in scorpio!! They are destructive, violent, and charming. Brimming with talent and leadership/professionalism until they FLIP!! They stay fairly quiet n mysterious often just so they can mull over between their head and their heart. Not to mention he sounds like a classic "Error Hoarder" Someone who counts and tags each mistake you make only to throw it back in your face. A REAL SEXY, EXCITING ASSHOLE!!!

It's doubly sad. I enjoyed the persona he gave the character soooo much, and unfortunately we won't get to see where he and the writers could have taken it. Domestic violence is just not acceptable period. Why have we become sooo angry and sooo ready to solve our problems with violence? At the first thought of striking someone, turn around, and WALK AWAY people. NO, RUN.
