Craig Ferguson Announces He's Leaving The Late Late Show & CBS After Ten Triumphant Years!!!

craig ferguson stepping down the late late show cbs 10 years december

He just pulled a David Letterman!

After a decade of delightful late night comedy, Craig Ferguson just announced that he and CBS will be parting ways this December.

The Late Late Show host broke the super sad news to his stunned studio audience on Monday during the taping of that evening's show.

In classic Craig fashion, the comedian joked:

“CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling,’ but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.”

Ugh! This is a tough blow to everyone with a funny-bone!

Nina Tassler, CBS' Entertainment Chairperson offered these kind words:

“During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30… He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television.”

Yes, yes, that's all well and good, but…

WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE HIM? Who will fill his super funny void?

A person of color, maybe? Someone with a vagina, perhaps? A cartoon cat? Maybe it'll be Chelsea Handler?

Either way, the HIGHlarious Emmy-nominated host supposedly has a few other TV gigs in the pipe — including one about science! — and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Good luck out there, Craigster!

"Person of color"… didn't Arsenio ruin that concept already? Though, Steve Harvey would be an interesting choice.

Are you prejudiced against white men or something? Jiminy Christmas I'm sick of crap like that. It should be about talent, not body parts and skin. Geez get over yourself.

Chelsea Handler??? She doesn't have the chops to handle a real talk show. There's a good reason why her monologues only last 20 seconds, and why she has to have a round table of comediennes helping her out. She's good enough for E!, but that's about it.

No one does late night like Craig Ferguson!! No one!!! I record it if I am falling asleep because I dont want to miss anything. How dare they (CBS) take this show off! I wont have my Craigyferg to make me laugh anymore? He can always make me laugh, no matter how bad I feel. I am so bummed out now. My kid took me to see him "live" in St. Louis, and he was so amazing. I hope he continues to do stand up. Good luck Craig Ferguson, in all you do I wish you and your family happiness always. We will miss you!!!

I have only watched Craig a few times bit he was funny, quick, relevant and very interesting. Over and over he has been passed over for the likes of jerks like Conan O'Brien, who is about as funny as rectal surgery. I hope he finds a gig where he is appreciated for his talents and can showcase his talents. CBS is stupid for Steve Colbert (silly, not funny) being given Letterman's job With the new guys in place, I will no longer do late-night TV. Their humor is obnoxious!

That figures! I find a late night, that I can truly enjoy, and now he is going to retire! Craig, I'll miss your spontaneous wit. Success in what ever you are going to do.

    23

Bummer! I hope Craig Ferguson will get a better time slot and knock it out of the park (without that robot). Craig really is superior to any other late night talk show host. Somehow someone must have fired the early show writers. His skits about "The Brits" were the best ever. He will be missed.
