Kirk Cameron's Intolerance Of Same-Sex Marriage Now Takes A Back Seat To His Intolerance Of Other "Sins"! Uh, Yay?

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLGBT

kirk cameron changing views same sex marriage focusing on fornicators and adulterers

Ugh! Talk about your growing pains!!!

Child actor and adult bigot Kirk Cameron has an interesting new take on same sex marriage!

He's still against it, apparently, but not preoccupied with it. He's less interested in fighting against it tooth-and-nail because he believes there are bigger fish to fry!

Bigger fish, in this case, is a metaphor for "adulterers" and "fornicators." While Kirk of course doesn't plan to literally fry them, we guess he thinks a pitchfork-wielding demon will take care of that once they're sent to the lake of fire for their sins.

Uh, cool story, bro!

Kirk held a seminar about marriage in Alabama last month and his words were surprising. He revealed:

"When people get too focused on redefining marriage, you're distracted from the bigger problem - fornicators and adulterers… If the people sitting in the pews are fornicators and adulterers, the church will destroy marriages much more quickly than those outside the church. When God's people mock marriage, God doesn't take that lightly."

While he didn't come out and say anything negative about gay marriage, he is talking smack about fornication which is sex between folks who are unwed. Which includes a lot of same-sex couples considering that they're still actively being denied the right to marry in over 30 states.

In an interview, Kirk went on to say:

"I think the greatest threat to marriage is not other people's definition of marriage… The church isn't taking God's definition of marriage seriously. It's not other people sabotaging marriage that's the problem."

While we don't agree with Kirk's view, we appreciate his family's willingness to debate their ideas civilly.

I am a believer, who has a gay friend, a muslim friend and a non-believing friend. I make sure I love on them the way Jesus loves them, because to me, love is the key! I oppose the "chrisitans" that beat up homosexual ppl in the name of Jesus; this is not what He would've wanted or done!

  3. antony says – reply to this

Seriously? the men/women that made him famous as a child star, writers, producers, make up staff, camera staff etc etc would have had staff that were Gay or Lesbian and he is now spewing this crap. Then he should burn his money, thats left as it was earned in sin!

  4. Diana says – reply to this

When did we get to a point, where ppl can express their opinion anymore? How is it that animals can nurture a differnet species than theirs or have mercy towards babies, but we as humans hate, kill and condamn one another?!

  5. Diana says – reply to this

he is talking to christians, which shouldn't offend you, because he was a speaker at a christian confernce. He is addressing the church, so why does his opinon bother you?! It's not like he was on a truck on CSD and yelling through a microphone…..

  6. Diana says – reply to this

So if we meet, you wouldn't get to know me and my heart, because I believe that there is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but you would shrug me off and never pay attention to me! What if your son becomes a believer and disciple of Jesus, are you going to not love him anymore and try to convince him that there is no God or Jesus and the bible isnt true?! Who is the bigot now?!?

  7. Diana says – reply to this

I told my gay friend:" I not be pro-homosexual marriage and/or adoption ever, but I won't force my believes down your throat either nor beat you with a bible! I love you for who you are and I will not magnify your sexual orientation only, because you are more than your sexuality to me!"

So I am going to leave you with scriptuer my brother and I pray that one day, you will truly understand what it means!

"34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." ~ Jesus spoke this in John 13:34

(sorry, please read as one post, my original one was too long they said!)

I think the question to ask is who care what Cameron thinks????? He is a nobody!!

  12. April says – reply to this

Why is he being called a "bigot"? Kirk Cameron is right. We all have free will to live how we want…but are we all willing to face the consequences of how we live??? At least when we stand before God (and we all will one day…gay and straight alike), we can't say that no one didn't care enough to tell us the truth. Kirk is speaking out of LOVE, not hate. Sorry, if it steps in your toes.

    Jesus said:
"43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." ~ Matthew 5:43-48

Kirk to do a little research into marriage. Marriage had nothing to do with the church until the middle ages when the church basically forced people to have church weddings. It wasn't about religion - it was about money. Weddings, funerals, and burials were a way for the church to make money. Before that, these rites of passages were a community event, or a private event. The church should never have interfered.

So according to you, God is a bigot? If He is against the same sex marriage.

  16. Shark Rules says – reply to this

Re: April – In one breath you say he has a right to his beliefs and that is true. However, people who oppose him also have the same right. People who oppose him have the right to call him a bigot, a homophobe or whatever they want. Why do you oppose that right for others who might believe differently than he does? Kirk Cameron doesn't spread this because he LOVES everyone. He spreads this because it keeps him in the news, keeps his gigs coming and while he might actually believe what he's saying, he thinks he speaks for God. Very stupid mistake.

  17. Theresa Andrews says – reply to this

    Re: Shark Rules
Are you sure of this? You know these things in what way?

  18. Stan says – reply to this

You are missing the point. He was attacking the church in general not people outside of the church. What does that have to do with you?

  19. 19

Re: Theresa Andrews – No. The men who wrote the bible were bigots. If there actually is some sort of omnipotent entity out there, we know absolutely nothing about what it thinks. Religion is about power and control and money. Sure there are a lot of really good people in churches who believe it is all about god, but as a whole it is about power. And for someone like Kirk Cameron to say he knows what 'god' thinks? Isn't that the epitome of arrogance?

You need to read the full article before being so judgmental. He said, "Christians need to clean up their own act before condemning gay marriages." You talk about bias and intolerance, but you seem to be the most intolerant and one sided person. It is unfortunate because you have a large audience that you can influence with positivity but you always seem to be passing judgment and shaming other.

Re: rosebud99 – And of course, we should all come to the same simplistic conclusion , completed in less than 2 minutes… Not to mention the fact that inevitably, all humans of the past were either liars or power-hungry manipulators.. If I were you, I would immediately cease to hope in anything..

But I must still grant you a point. Cuz in the past, there has been more than a false prophet and Manipulator. However, thence to state categorically, without even being able to prove it; That all have been bad people who lied? I believe the word "discredited" applies very well to your case.

  22. 22

Re: Tacos Lover – How about you re-read my comment. I said that there are a lot of good people in churches - I did not say they were all bad people who lied. And I apologize for over simplifying but this is a subject that books have been written about - and this is a blog where comments have to be simple. As for proof - well that's the thing about gods - it cannot be proven that they exist and it cannot be proven that they don't exist.

  23. 23

Re: Tacos Lover – Furthermore, just because I do not believe in gods, does not mean that I am without hope. I have tremendous hope in the human spirit, and I firmly believe that the vast majority of people are good people. If you think religion makes you a better person and it makes you happy - then I am all for it. But when people like Kirk Cameron use religion as an excuse to discriminate, the more people that point that out - the better.

  24. 24

I wasn't aware God had a definition of marriage. Last I checked it started long long long time ago as a contract between families and had little to do with religion or love and everything to do with power and wealth…or at least food, animals and money. But hey, maybe the history books are wrong…

  25. @v@ says – reply to this

So, his gay views aside, you disagree with him, so ergo the page agrees with adultery? Let us know how that works for you if you marry.

    Re: rosebud99

If your whole argument is that the Bible lacks credence and validity because it was written by humans, then I see no reason why I shouldn't take this post, and your claims, with a grain of salt. After all, it was written by a mere human.
