Imagine what would actually happen if the former Today Show anchor really did step in for a brief moment! Chaos!!
According to a source close to the show, the staffers on the NBC morning show are upset that producers are thinking of outsourcing talent when they have two capable co-hosts on their roster!
"Asking her to fill in for Savannah is really a disservice to Natalie [Morales] and Tamron [Hall]. You already have two seasoned pros that are a part of the show, ready, willing and able to step up for Savannah. Yet, executive producers are considering offering Katie or Meredith Viera the opportunity to fill in for Savannah when she goes out on maternity leave."
The source continued to bash the even thought of having Katie or Meredith back on the morning show!
"It’s really a step backwards for the show. If the intent is to attempt to recapture the ratings glory that prevailed when Katie and Meredith were on board, it’s not going to work. If anything, it will just remind viewers how far the show has fallen since that time. The network just doesn’t seem to understand that the show has no chance of being number one with Matt Lauer as part of the show, period."
Well, the only way to really move forward and prevail is to keep going onward! Natalie and Tamron are more than capable of holding their own against Matt!
Besides, Katie will be making big bucks when she starts her global anchor gig for Yahoo! News!
It's not like she needs to relive her glory days with Matt!
