Did CBS Make A Bad Move? Network Passes On How I Met Your Dad, But Someone Else Is Ready To Add The Budding Spinoff To Their Line Up!

how i met your mother how i met your dad cbs not angry disappointed

Remember when we told you How I Met Your Dad was passed on by CBS, despite the fact that they were committed to the pilot way back in November?

Well, we finally have insight on why the network decided to not pick up HIMYD, and it's not because they thought it would be a flop!

Nina Tassler at CBS explained their reason for not picking up the spinoff, she said:

"There were elements of the pilot that didn't work out, [but the brass at the network] love this show and we love these producers.

I'm heartsick. We love this brand and we love this show, but it didn't work out."

Nina also revealed the network reached out to HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas to redo the pilot to their liking, but the producers wouldn't budge.

As per a source close to the negotiation process, the studio and producers didn't agree to reshoot the pilot without CBS picking up the series.

Which totally makes sense. You wouldn't want all your efforts to go to waste because there is a chance it won't pick it up!

CBS still has until midnight tonight to pick up the series, if they changed their mind, or else other networks like 20th Century Fox will scoop up that gem!

Good luck on finding your new home, HIMYD!

maybe if they didn't screw up the ending of HIMYM so badly, this show might have worked.

Re: mrsg13 – Agree. How can you get into a character who's fate has already been determined by another show. At this point, since we know the outcome (and it took 100 freakin years to get there) why would anyone really care to hear her side of the story? But not to worry, if it does get picked up by someone like FOX it'll be cancelled after 8 episodes anyway.

Re: Ashley – Yeah, in case you missed the memo, this wasn't about Ted's wife… it was about a completely different set of characters, in the same city, IN THE SPIRIT of HIMYM.

    I'm sorry, this is journalism?

Did you take 30 seconds to learn *how* pilots are financed? For an entertainment reporter, you are woefully uninformed.

Anyhow, people should just watch "the Mother," Cristen Milioti, in her new rom-com sit-com, A to Z, on NBC of all places!

Re: Paul – A to Z doesnt look that promising, plus its on NBC. (All following statesments are refering to NBC comedies only, unless otherwise noted) They had 5 freshmen this season, and only one got renewed. Last season they didnt renew any freshmen. This year they had 2 veterans, next year, they have 2 (if you can call a sophmore a veteran). A to Zs chances dont look too good. This season they had 2 hours of in the fall and 3 in the spring. Next season, its set to be 2 in the fall and 1 in the spring. Dont get your hopes up. A to Z is likely canceled. If any freshmen outrun the bear, itll be Bad Judge, I think.

YOU PEOPLE ARE MORONS. THIS WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABOUT THE MOTHER FROM HIMYM… THIS WAS GOING TO BE A NEW FEMALE CHARACTER TELLING A SIMILAR BUT COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY. ROBIN, BARNEY, TED, MARSHALL, LILY… NONE OF THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THIS AT ALL. THIS IS A SPINOFF TOLD FROM A WOMANS PERSPECTIVE, BUT NOT THE SAME WOMAN AS IN HIMYM

Re: Paul – No I hadn't heard (obviously). But thanks for no caps locking me into submission. Too many people want to jump down other people's throats for innocent mistakes. Peace.
