Jay Z Should've Slapped Solange Back?! This View Host's Opinion Might Make Your Eyes Pop!

| Filed under: Celebrity FeudsBeyonceWhoopi GoldbergJAY-ZSolangeViolence

This is definitely a controversial opinion.

But alas, leave it to one of the ladies at The View to drop this bomb.

While discussing Solange's recent beat down on Jay Z in an elevator, Whoopi released a very strong opinion on what would've been okay for Jay to do.

And that was hitting Solange back!

We certainly don't condone any violence, but it is an inneresting argument.

Would Jay have been in the right to strike back? Or not because he's a man?

Ch-ch-check out the discussion (above) and decide for yourself!

what bothers me is that if Jay-Z hit her the world would have freaked out and hated him for it, but since it's Solange, who is a woman, everyone laughs. that's really sexist! violence is never okay.

If he had smacked there would have been much more colateral damages. However what strikes me is that if his bodyguard had contained her ride away, there wouldn't have been so mucg fuss, the footage would have lasted 15 seconds instead of 3 minutes

Whoopi would say that- she just wants to stay on Jay Z's good side- no one knows the background of why this happened- who knows what he did- he may have deserved this big time-

Re: katheryn – He *may* have deserved this. OK. So if a video of Jay-Z or any man appeared and he was hitting a woman, would you say the same about him? That she *may* have deserved it? I'm a woman, and I think ANYONE who puts their hands on another person is in the wrong. She is a mother and an adult, she should use her words. I don't like double standards and I think feminism is all about equality for ALL, not just for women to become the dominate sex in society.

Re: katheryn – if it was the other way around no one would say she did something to deserve it. They would complain til he was in jail. Like someone else said it's completely sexist. Violence is never ok for a man or woman…

I think if you want to fight a man, then you need to be prepared to get hit as well. Just because you're a woman doesn't give you the right to hit a man and then cry if he hits you back.

Whoopie is 100% right! My mother has always told me the same thing, no matter who it it's male or female, if they hit you, you have every right to protect yourself and hot back…women all want equality in all other areas but then want a double standard when it comes to getting beat, equality means you punch me in the eye, you get punched in the eye. Woman don't want to be called the weaker sex, but having it be wrong for a man to hit a woman(in self defense) is blatantly saying women ARE the weaker sex.

No. He did the right thing there. Plus who knows what JayZ might or might not have been up to. Her hitting him is not ok, and two wrongs don't make a right. He set a needed example.

Not ok for a man to hit a woman and EQUALLY WRONG for a woman to hit a man!!!!

I think Whoopie is right in theory but wrong in reality. If someone (man or woman) puts their hands on you, you absolutely should have the right to hit them back, however, if you do hit them back your hands are just as dirty as their's. If you don't retaliate you end up winning the fight every time. Because he did not strike her back, as is his human right, she looks like the crazy one. This nonviolence method has been used to change the world by people like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. It goes back to the simple phrase we are all taught at a young age. Two wrongs don't make a right. If you can resist the very basic primal urge to fight back with fists and violence; if you can rise above when someone is kicking you down and threatens you; then you will ultimately win the fight. Whoopie should know this.

Jay Z did the right thing because he has everything to lose.

I've been in many situations, where I've wanted to hit a man, and they would have deserved it. BUT we live in 2014, where it's equality for ALL. So I've never actually hit a man (or anyone else) because he might hit me back to protect himself, and he'll probably hit twice as hard as me.
