reynolds high school shooting press conference

Today's tragic shooting at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon left us with a lot of questions and, unfortunately, a lot of rumors.

These included the question of a second gunman.

Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson addressed the media and confirmed the correct information, clearing up these rumors. He said:

"One student is deceased as a result of a lone gunman that entered the school. The lone gunman was also deceased at the scene. We are in the process of notifying the next of kin for both.

We have tentatively identified the shooter, but we are not confident enough at this point to reveal the details. I can tell you that the weapon that was used is a rifle. In addition, one teacher was injured with non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

Not related to this incident and during the evacuation process, a gun was found on one person. This is not believed to be a part of the incident. That person was taken into custody."

It sounds like the incident was ended quickly. At least for that we can be thankful.

Our hearts go out to the family of the victim, and to all the poor students who have not yet been reunited with their families.

So sad, but I wonder why this keeps happening in mostly liberal states (CT, MA, CO, and now Oregon)?

Re: irvinegirl – Um…Nevada? Virginia? Texas? Florida alone….girl, you need to learn how to research. Google "Map of School Shootings." Maybe look stuff up before you speak.

Hey perez. As a resident of Troutdale Oregon and a parent of a teenager who attend the school, I am asking you to change your headline. It is VERY misleading and inaccurate. Please also update the story to involve the information on the poor teenager whom was gunned down. Please check KPTV . COM for story info.

Re: irvinegirl – It doesn't. The most recent shootings were in NV and GA, with most of the killings in the last eight years (75 fatalities) being carried out by right-wing motivated shooters.

Re: irvinegirl – Interestingly enough, the #1 positive correlation (more violence) between gun violence and Geography is counties that voted heavily Republican in 2008, the latest data set available. The #2 negative correlation? Counties that voted for Obama.

In other words, stop talking out yo' azz.
