Oregon School Shooting Suspect Was Only 15 - New Information About His Identity, His Plan To Kill, & The Heroic Teacher Who Stopped Him
The boy who walked into an Oregon school and began shooting yesterday was only 15 years old, according to police.
Authorities have identified Jared Michael Padgett as the lone suspect. The teenage boy shot and killed fellow student Emilio Hoffman, 14, in the locker room of Reynolds High in the town of Troutdale, just 15 miles outside of Portland.
Padgett then exchanged gunfire with police before turning his weapon on himself.
And while the motive for his heinous crime remains unclear, officials are now saying Padgett was heavily armed. He arrived at his school with a rifle, a handgun, nine magazines capable of holding several hundred rounds of ammunition, a vest to carry all of his extra ammo, and a multi-sport camouflage helmet.
Mr. Rispler was in the locker room when the shooting started. He was hit in the hip by a bullet but still managed to alert the school of the danger. Classes were quickly put in lockdown and police were immediately notified.
Such a senseless tragedy. Our thoughts continue to be with the students and parents of this community.
