The sixth season (yeah, friggin’ sixth!) of Duck Dynasty began this week, but the ratings for the A&E reality series were about as dead as a mallard with a bullet through its head.
Not even a guest appearance by republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal could help the show pull in more viewers! And as we all know, if you want people to watch your television program, you NEED to get Bobby Jindal!
Ducky Dynasty only scored a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s a 45% drop from its Season 5 opener. Even worse, the show lost 61% of their viewers from the Season 4 premiere - the peak of their popularity.
That was back in August, BEFORE Phil Robertson’s ugly comments about homosexuality came out in an interview with GQ.
Since then, the series has been on a steady decline, with this week’s ratings hitting a new low since the controversy broke late last year.
Will this end up being the last season of Duck Dynasty??
Reality series rarely last as long as this one has. And with fewer fans tuning in to see what the bird huntin', Bible readin' Robertsons are up to, we doubt this series can survive for much longer.
