Well, now it's about to shock with what it ISN'T doing!
A Song Of Ice And Fire readers noticed the absence of a big twist at the end of season 4. You may have seen their disappointed faces as the credits rolled.
Well, get ready for that disappointment to continue because [SPOILER ALERT] it looks like in the HBO show, Catelyn Stark is staying dead. Actress Michelle Fairley, who brought the character to life, says:
"Yeah, the character's dead. She's dead."
Just like in the TV show, the Stark matriarch met her demise at the infamous Red Wedding, but one of the biggest shocks in the books came when red priest Thoros of Myr used his resurrection prayer on her decomposed corpse. Catelyn lived again, but now as the kind of a vengeance-crazed zombie Lady Stoneheart.
But Michelle says she knew from the beginning she wouldn't be returning to life or to the show. She says:
"You respect the writers' decision. I knew the arc, and that was it. They can't stick to the books 100 percent. It's impossible; they only have 10 hours per season. They have got to keep it dramatic and exciting, and extraneous stuff along the way gets lost in order to maintain the quality of brilliant show."
Extraneous stuff?? The resurrection of a major character??
