Wow! Sounds like a lot of extra work! But safety first!
When Scarlett Johansson announced that she was having a baby, the movie world went nanners because she’s the Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron!
So, during a recent Q&A with the cast, co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans, and writer-director Joss Whedon, the trio talked about what went into covering up that fab baby bump!
For starters, ScarJo required THREE stunt doubles, all who looked just like her! Chris said:
“It’s always funny. You walk by, ‘Hey Scarlett, oh. Weird. You’re not Scarlett at all. Sorry.’ A lot of fake Scarletts around.”
LOLz! But then he was very complimentary, adding:
“She’s just been great. It really hasn’t slowed us down at all. She’ll be running around, diving and jumping and doing these things and you’re like ‘She seems like she’s got this.”
Yikes! Hopefully she’s not diving too much!
Then, Mark let us in on another secret of Scarlett’s pregnant movie magic tricks:
“There’s a lot of close-ups. It’s not too hard at all.”
A little old Hollywood magic never hurt anyone!
And Whedon explained how the integrity of the filming remained the same, despite having the Black Widow’s bun in the oven to think about:
“We’re not avoiding any of the danger because the stuntwomen do the danger—as has always been the case. She’s very central to the movie and when we heard [about the pregnancy] we scheduled things around that. She’s not going to spend the whole movie carrying groceries. We didn’t trim any scenes. We’re like: We’ll make it work.”
Hearing about all of these behind-the-scenes things only makes us more anxious to see the flick now!
