Kanye West Compared The Idea Of Being A Celebrity To Being Black In The '60s In His Wedding Speech! Read His Explanation HERE!

kanye west kim kardashian wedding speech gq interview

A lot of speculation surrounded Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding in May.

Everyone was dying to know what went down during the couple's lavish Italian nuptials. It's only been two months since Kimye tied the knot and people are STILL talking about it!

Leading up to the wedding, the majority of the reports talked about Kim's wedding dress to the decor of the event and everything in between.

However, there was one publication that went on and on about the supposed gold toilets at Kimye's wedding.

They even claimed that Kanyeezy gave a 45-minute wedding speech that revolved around the one person he loves the most: himself!

LOLz! Just kidding, we all know he loves Kimmy and North West the most!

Not to be outdone by that allegation, the All Falls Down rapper explained to GQ what he talked about during his wedding speech!

He said:

"…what I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the '60s, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name. I said that in the toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we're going to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities so that my daughter can live a more normal life. She didn't choose to be a celebrity. But she is. So I'm going to fight to make sure she has a better life.

In the speech, I talked about the idea of collaboration and all the people involved working together and being able to change things. Meaning there was a time for two or three years where fashion designers wouldn't give Kim dresses. There was a time they wouldn't even let me be at shows. Now the idea that Kim is in a Givenchy Couture dress is raising the communication. Because people would be more apt to be like, "Celebrities don't really have style. Celebrities can't dress. Celebrities are less educated." But they haven't had the chance to be able to break through and have Carine Roitfeld sitting right there. Carine Roitfeld is the Walt Disney of what Tumblr is today. She is the Kanye West of what Tumblr is today. She's the single most important person to what street style is today. And she was at the wedding seven seats down from Kim, who is one of the number one fashion plates of today. So I said, "Wow, Carine is seven seats down from Kim. Farnaz [Farjam], the producer of the Kardashians and the producer of The Real World, is four seats down from [director] Steve McQueen. And four seats, because in between them is Hosain [Rahman] from Jawbone." This is what I talked about. That was not a forty-five-minute speech to myself. Do you realize what that means for those people to be in that close of a proximity to each other?"

That's definitely not a 45-minute ode to Kanye West speech!

While we totally understand Yeezus's frustration with the media being able to say whatever they want about him or his family without any repercussions, it doesn't amount up to what people of color had to endure back in the '60s!

'Ye goes on rants a lot during his tours, but this was your wedding day — one of the happiest days of a person's life!

Leave all that anger toward the world behind and immerse yourself in the beautiful moment with your beautiful wife!

He's about as ignorant as they come.

Just calling him an egotistical, ignorant moron wouldn't be enough - Kayne has his very own lofty level of stupid.

  3. 3

He would do himself a huge favor by just shutting up.

Umm just you and People.com can't get over this wedding. Everyone else was over it before it began.

He has definitely an inferiority complex accentuated by its afro American origins. The guy has a lot of mental fixations leading him to be afraid and be wary of everything. Making of him an obviously paranoid person!

Kanye West has no right to comment about racism in America or racial divide. He and others like him constantly use the defamatory N-word in their music as a monicker of “respect” and it is extremely offensive and hypocritical. The use of this word bastardizes the experience of those who truly knew the cruelness and humiliation behind its meaning (probably those he desperately tries to relate to). My father is a Mexican immigrant and has experienced horrible things, but he isn’t a victim and refuses to use race as a means to obtain personal vindication. I’m a proponent of racial equality, but I do not support some spoiled kid from Chicago using the terrible experiences of others as an excuse to say outlandish things in order to get what he wants. Sorry, Kanye…..grow up…..there are people in this world with real problems……oh and read up on your history first!

F U kanye w, there is absolutely no comparison between celebrities n african americans during the 60s, r u kidding me, he needs to take his ass to a psychiatrist…

Kanye has no Idea what it was like to be Black in the 60's as he wasn't born until the late 1970's he's as delusional as it whore wife who he's almost never with. he should just shut his mouth he's alienating his fans every time he speaks. Nell Newman has a Better idea how it was to be black in the 1960's than Mr West does as she lived through the decade and had black friends like Nat King Cole's daughters Natalie Casey & Timolin and Sidney Poitier's daughters Beverly Pamela Gina & Sherri among others

Why do black americans think they are the center of earth? We get that they were oppressed in the 1960s. But blacks are still oppressed today in 2014… in african countries by black leaders. Very few africans so much as have freedom of speech in modern africa. And if they do have it, they are scared to use it. Black americans are kinda selfish. "poor me. I was oppressed before I was born". You dont know oppression until you've tried to live in africa. Try moving to sudan and then bitch. The biggest oppressor is black men today in 2014. But black americans dont notice that or care. black men are still practicing slavery in the congo.
Ask the Pygmies. But, poor Kanye.

It's been two months and everyone has completely forgotten it about it. Please don't hype it up as the biggest thing ever, when it clearly wasn't.

Wtf is wrong with this guy? I guess him and Kim are perfect for each other. Both are grossly unaware of what goes on in the world other than their own lives. You get married to the woman you said you waited seven years for..yet all you care to talk about is the A list celebs that attended? This is why Kanye will NEVER be taken seriously. Thi $ hit he talksabout..the things he claims are sooo important. My God could anyone ever be more obnoxious? I bet it is his mission in life to be richer and more sucessful than Beyonce and Jayz just to prove a point lol. Pathetic losers
