The announcement comes a decade after the band won the moonman for best new artist against Kanye West and Yellowcard.
Just to give you all a full idea of the situation, here is Adam's 2011 Twitter post:
"The VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. F–k you VMA's."
And here is the band's 2014 Facebook post:
We are so excited about our upcoming new album and to be part of the great VMA lineup this year. It is our first time doing the show and we are thrilled to be on it performing our new single."
Someone certainly changed their tune.
(It's probably a mix of the latter two.)
Regardless of the reason, we're sure they'll have a lovely performance.
Oh, and our bet is that Adam and Co. stopped caring that MTV doesn't play music around the same time the band started pay-phoning it in.
