All these years later and we still don't know why Geri Halliwell shockingly ditched the Spice Girls in 1998…

…until now?

Actually, Mel B. isn't even so sure why Geri left, but she does have a theory!

And, just to clarify, it wasn't because their was dramz between the ladies.

Scary Spice believes the departure had something to do with the pressure of worldwide fame.

Makes sense! Still, it doesn't make their absence in the music biz any less painful. *TEAR*

Listen to Mel's whole explanation on Watch What Happens Live on why our fave girl group of all time called it quits…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Who the hell is writing these articles? Did they go to school???
"And, just to clarify, it wasn't because their was dramz between the ladies." The correct homophone to use would be "there". If you're going to have a "professional" (and I use that term loosely) blog, grammar is important!

Well this is no news at all. There is no revelation here! Geri said in several interviews herself why she left the group, and there is no need to go back and say it again, the reasons were mixed, mainly to do with pressure and how huge the group had become - she felt like a cartoon piece rather than a singer and performer, Spice Girls back then were everywhere, and they were even on crisps packages and coke cans. It was beyond ridiculous. The other reason was that the "job was done", according to Geri - the fun part was over, they were now a globalized phenomenon, a sponsor, an obsession almost - and all of which was extremely commercial and not in the least authentic. Geri left at the right time, and in fact, all the rest of the band followed her with solo careers - more or less successful, Geri was the first and most original (and more interesting), although she wasn't the best singer or dancer, but she still managed to be the only one to sell records worldwide with her first and second album, and produce a series of hits like none of the rest did, other than Mel C at first (whose success though was mainly restricted to the UK). The other girls did peanuts combined, and generated little interest too. No wonder Geri left .. She is still the most discussed and everybody's favourite to this day. So well done Geri to have left the band. Let bygones be bygones.
