Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has had his share of troubles with the law. But this may be his strangest run-in yet!
Mainly because, well, it isn't him!
It was reported Thursday afternoon that Scott had been busted for meth possession last month and was currently sitting in jail.
The problem was, Scott Weiland WASN'T sitting in jail. And when he heard those reports, he didn't just TELL his fans it wasn't true; he showed them! Check out his video proof (above)!
So why did the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department report that they had the Velvet Revolver singer in custody in the first place? It's not exactly clear… A spokesperson said:
"We confirmed that inside the jail is someone booked as Scott Klein Weiland. We confirmed that that person was there inside the jail. So that is what we confirmed. What we are trying to do now is to speak to the Beverly Hills Police Department to find out what the deal is. We are trying to find out what is going on with this."
We still don't know how the mistake was made. Possibly another man who happened to be named Scott Weiland?
Either way, as you can imagine, Scott is NOT happy with the case of mistaken identity! But since the story was corrected, we doubt if he'll be taking the matter to court.
We're just happy to know that Scott hasn't had a relapse and is still going strong with his new band!
