Joan Rivers Has Been Moved From Intensive Care; Read The Latest On Her Condition Here

| Filed under: Joan RiversMelissa RiversHealth

joan rivers intensive care

There's good news and there's not-so-good news for Joan Rivers.

The good news is that according to a new statement from Melissa Rivers, her mother is finally out of Intensive Care. She said:

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable."

Unfortunately, Melissa didn't really give any updates on Joan's actual medical condition. Is she still on life support?

The thing that's bothering us is the use of the word "comfortable."

It may be that there hasn't been any change at all, simply that there's nothing that Intensive Care can do.

So scared right now. Sending prayers your way, Joan! Please just wake up and say something offensive already!

Thought the same thing about the word comfortable - usually that isn't good. Praying for the best for Joan and her loved ones!

I imagine it was the last resort that God had up his sleeve, hoping she would open her spirit to save the fate of her soul before her death, before being judged definitively…

I can understand that the family wants privacy but have some respect for all the fans that have followed her and read her books and watched her shows. The people would like to know her condition and all Melissa is saying is that she is crossing her fingers. That is just a really stupid statement and shows disrespect for her fans. The word comfortable is a word that says she is not doing well and Im sure her days are ending.

Re: RIP, woman – No one is ging to be judged…there is no god…believe in science please….she has been a good mother and grandmother…people who know her, love her….she will be just fine…peace Joan.

Re: goldenyearsgal – it is privacy….no disrespect….If you know anything about science, you can conclude that Joan is not well….that is all fans need to know. do not judge…you apparently have never been faced with a critical situation…just leave them alone…that is what they want…privacy.

Bummer for her. She obviously choked during this routine procedure, how awful. Best wishes.

I love joan and her fashion police show. I really hope she gets well but unfortunately from the little bit of news we are getting on her condition, it doesn't sound good. I'm praying for you joan.

I love Fashion Police and I hope she'll be able to recover… but to me, "being kept comfortable" sounds like they're trying to make sure she'll die peacefully.

Well well well, Perez, it was only YESTERDAY you were making a promise to be a more responsible "journalist" (choke) and then you went and "reported" this morning that a "source" said she was basically on the road to recovery - a report that was reported yesterday was BAD INFORMATION. Melissa had already said it was not accurate and not to believe all the gossip flying around but you still spread it. Now you have to report the truth that was the truth yesterday - that she is not showing any progress.

Re: goldenyearsgal – Sorry, but "fans" do not get to demand to know what is going on when a celebrity is ill or injured. Frankly fans don't get to demand ANY information of celebrities. It is not an issue of "respecting the fans" it is an issue of respecting Joan's family at this time - it is NOT about you.

What this means is that they've taken her off life support and have moved her to a private room to die. It could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Keeping her comfortable means they are providing her palliative care - managing pain, if any, providing mouth cares, etc. For an 81 year old to recover from a severe acquired brain injury would be an impossible ask. Once they took her out the coma, which happened several days ago, it sounds like there was no response due to the severity of the brain injury. The decision from there is to palliate.

Joan Rivers fought to be heard as a woman in comedy and paved the way for women today. She worked hard. She made us laugh and she made us groan. I wish she and her family the best.

    Re: RIP, woman

And what pray tell will you be judged for….Are you perfect…no, no one is. She did nothing to you. You may not like her humor, but she did nothing wrong. Sounds like a religious anti-semite making this comment. Jews don't believe in heaven and hell. She won't be anywhere near you, but you will be burning in hell

Re: roger – I believe stars give up their rights to privacy when they become stars. It's a trade-off. They want it both ways; it's not fair to all us fans, who are supporting their extravagant lifestyles, by going to see their movies, buying their products, etc.

I agree with the article. If there is no change just say so. Everything that has been reported as been so vague.
