Joan Rivers' Passing Leaves Fashion Police's Future Unknown - Can The Show Carry On Without Her?

fashion police future joan rivers death

Joan Rivers basically was the Fashion Police.

She created asking who was wearing what and critiquing it down to every little detail.

So when she passed yesterday at the age of 81, it came as no surprise that fans are now wondering what will become of the show she helmed, E!'s Fashion Police.

While she hosted with a panel that includes Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos, we can't imagine watching Fashion Police and not seeing and hearing Joan get all sorts of sassy on celebs and their red carpet disasters.

E! has so far issued two statements commenting that the network and its stars need time to mourn this great loss before deciding what to do with the program she was the face of for so long:

"Right now we are mourning our beloved Joan. We will respond at a later date with programming updates."

E! previously announced the show was taking a two week hiatus when Joan suffered her medical emergency.

We're sure fans will be waiting to hear the final decision on the show, but either way, Joan will always be missed.

Red carpet commentary will never be the same.

The only person who could possibly take her place is Kathy Griffin. Joan was a one of a kind and she will be greatly missed. I would hate to see FP go off air … Joan wouldn't want that.

I don't get the appeal of that show in the first place. HATED it. It's grown up bullying . I mean my God, look how Osborn dresses, yet she sits and critiques? Ridiculous.

I think they should cancel the show Joan was Fashion Police replacing her with another comedian would be a desperate attempt to keep the show alive. They should try to create a new show about fashion so we won't expect the things that Joan has built in Fashion Police. Kelly might be the only one to maybe do the new show. Gulliana and George didnt do much for me.

I just remembered that it was Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin that have been kicked off the red carpet by E! for asking the celebrities questions everyone did not have the guts to ask. So it would have to be Kathy Griffin. Otherwise the show would not be the same without Joan Rivers. Also, isn't Melissa the Producer? Hopefully she stays on.

Let's hope not. Rancid and fat Kelly are the pits.

I'm assuming Kattie Griffen or Sarah Silverman would do the honors…

Let the show go on! Joan would want her name, her legacy, her art to go on forever. As it should. I'm devastated by her death. She deserves to be remembered always.

The show SHOULD continue; and should do so in loving tribute to Joan Rivers: No one can REPLACE Ms. Rivers, but a good choice to add to the cast to give the comedian perspective would be either Kathy Griffin or Margaret Cho: Both of these ladies have a keen sense of wit; and an ability to TELL IT LIKE IT IS. Rest in peace, Joan Rivers.

Well, I would see Perez on set with Kelly Osborne and someone else, someone fattier to make the whole situation even more awkward.. The show should be named The ex fatty, the fattier and the even more heavier.

Yes the show should definitely continue. Joan would want this legacy she created to continue on. My suggestion would be Chelsey Lately to co-host the show. She has the same keen sense of humor as Joan. Joan Rivers is going to be missed for a long time to come. I watched Fashion Police every week and laughed out loud all through the show. May you rest in peace Joan.

They should try to carry on and bring on Kathy Griffin, who worshiped Joan and has a similar take-no-prisoners sassy tongue.

The ONLY names to come to mind who could replace her, is Roseanne Barr, or Sandra Bernhardt. They both have the "balls" to go for it! Or possibly even J. Alexander from "America's next top Model" :D

If it goes on and I truly hope it does, it HAS to be Kathy Griffin. She's the only one with similar street ceded to Joan. I love the whole cast and hope they keep it intact. Just maybe a fresh set? I even have and idea for a segment. WWJS? What would Joan Say? She would say you need to get back to laughing!
