U2 Inks A Mega Deal With Apple & Gives Away Their New Album For FREE!

| Filed under: Music MinuteBusiness Blitz

u2 album is given away

Tuesday was a beautiful day for the band U2 and their loyal fans.

After performing a song off their album Songs of Innocence at the Apple event, it was revealed that the album would be free for all iTunes subscribers.

Yep, if you have an iTunes account you should now also have Songs of Innocence in your music library!

So, why would U2 want to give away their album for nada?

The answer: they didn't.

Bono revealed:

"We were paid. I don't believe in free music. Music is a sacrament."

Ah, so now everything makes more sense. It appears Apple CEO Tim Cook paid U2 a pretty penny for the new album so iTunes users could enjoy it for free.

We think Apple should pull off this kind of stunt more often! Who doesn't love free music?!

They gave it away because no one is interested in buying it (just like the fat ugly watch they are trying to market). Duh!
