Vanessa Hudgens is finally coming to Broadway!

The High School Musical star has been singing and acting for years, but she's finally found a project that's perfect for her- Gigi!

The story of a young French girl preparing to become a courtesan has been a novel, an Audrey Hepburn play, and of course, a movie musical, and now it's coming to the stage once again!

So why now, why this play? Vanessa has wanted to take this one on for quite a while! She said:

"My mom's name is Gina, her nickname's been Gigi. We have a dog named Gigi. Gigi is very prevalent in our lives."

Ha! Amazing! Only, you guys named the dog after your mom? That's gotta be ruff! LOLz!

Srsly, Vanessa isn't just perfect for the role; the role is exactly what she wants! She says:

"I've never been so ecstatic about a project before. I genuinely feel like a child, beaming from ear-to-ear, being taken to Disneyland for the first time. It's something that I actually feel I was born to do."

And we were born to watch it! Can't wait!

Perez - you have got to be out of your flipping mind to think Hudgens would be perfect emulating a beloved role made famous by the VERY talented Hepburn! Yes, perhaps Vanessa can sing but her acting is well, sad.

Audrey Hepburn NEVER played Gigi. THAT would be Leslie Caron.

I'm so happy for you Vanessa. I think you'll make a wonderful Gigi. I'll be there to cheer you on at the pre-Broadway performances at the Kennedy Center. Break a leg.

this one trick pony has no business being on Broadway unlike the young actress cast as Emily Webb in the last major Broadway Revival of Thorton Wilder's Our Town from December 2002 -January 26th 2003 that was Paul Newman's panultimate appearance on Broadway though some don't like to give him credit for it because his wife Joanne Woodward was the executive producer of the production and had been bugging him to be in a revival of it for 7 years. though she finally decided to stage the production after being trapped in Washington DC on 9/11 raising money for their beloved West port Country Playhouse's next season which began in May 2002 the production debuted in October 2002 to critical acclaim and sold out performances the last play she directed a production of prior to his death was Clifford Odet's Golden Boy in August 2008 actually Hepburn did originate the Role in 1951 on Broadway Caron played it in the movie which opened in Los Angeles on July 10th 1958

Get your facts straight. Audrey Hepburn never played Gigi. Leslie Caron played the part. Vanessa auditioned for the role along with many other young actresses, and she got the part. I think she'll do great.

How about YOU get your facts straight? Audrey did play Gigi, but in the PLAY, on Broadway. Leslie Caron was Gigi in the movie. As for calling Vanessa untalented, how about you go check out her latest movies, Frozen Ground and Gimme Shelter that had critics buzzing. Especially the latter that had people saying she would even get an Oscar nomination. Vanessa is a VERY talented young actress who started doing musical theater at age 8, in productions like Carusel and the King and I. And the Gigi on Broadway director Eric Schaeffer said that he wanted an unknown actress as Gigi but after a great audition by Vanessa he knew he found the perfect girl for the part. They called her and asked her to do the workshop not even 24 hours late. And in the workshop not only did she get GREAT reviews, but also a standing ovation from everyone attending. So how about you stop with your negativity and hate just because you have a certain WRONG perception of her and give the girl a freaking chance
