This sounds like it was a beautiful send off!
Nicole Kidman and her family laid her father Antony to rest in Sydney on Friday, after his sudden death.
The funeral, which was planned by Kidman's hubby Keith Urban and her brother-in-law, took place at at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where the actress gave an emotional speech.
According to a source, she talked about how kind her dad was, how he never accepted expensive gifts, and how he was always there for her. She said:
"He was calm, he was wise, he was self-restrained and he was generous. He was a good man, a compassionate man, a strong man, a man that was always there for me. He was my thinker, confidante, my friend and my protector."
She also told anecdotes, like how her dad had eaten all of the pizza they'd planned to have for dinner when he visited her in New York.
"I am so grateful he came to New York. And I'm so glad he ate all that pizza."
Then, Urban led the crowd in singing Amazing Grace, and Nicole joined in as well. Their daughter Sunday recited a poem with cousin Sybella, and seven of Antony's eight grandchildren spoke at the ceremony.
When the 90-minute funeral was over, the coffin was carried out by pallbearers, who included Russell Crowe, while the Seekers' song The Carnival Is Over played.
The source added:
"When it was time to put the coffin in the hearse and say goodbye, only the family were invited to this part of the funeral. Nicole was very distraught, and Keith really comforted her at this poignant moment and gave her a kiss. It was very touching."
And then 70 people went back to Nicole and Keith's two-story apartment where they all sang and danced to the Beatles and Elton John.
We're sure Antony was smiling down on them throughout the entire thing! Our thoughts are with Nicole, Keith, and all of their family and friends in this difficult time.
