Sarah Hyland Gets A Restraining Order Against Her Ex-BF Matthew Prokop Claiming That He Choked & Threatened Her! So Scary!
UPDATE: Sarah's lawyer, Lee A. Sherman confirmed that she did in fact get a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order against Matthew Prokop on September 19th. In regards to the case, he added that the 'documents filed speak for themselves.'
This is so scary.
Sarah Hyland succeeded in getting a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Matthew Prokop, after she claimed that he allegedly choked her, and allegedly threatened her life.
According to court documents, Sarah alleges that Matthew both physically and verbally attacked her in the latter 4 years of their relationship. We had no idea that she was going through this.
According to the docs, the squeeze on her throat left her voice injured, and she had a "very sore throat":
"His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life."
Apparently, Sarah even asked her Modern Family mom Julie Bowen to help peacefully end the relationship with him. According to the docs, however, the breakup didn't go as smoothly as hoped for.
Matt allegedly freaked out when he saw Julie and others there, and he reportedly "ran outside into the backyard and began screaming."
Sarah claims that Matthew allegedly threw a lighter at her and Julie apparently stepped in to tell Sarah to leave the house for her own safety.
After that, he allegedly threatened to set one of her homes on fire, and reportedly threatened that she'd never see her dog again.
In addition, Sarah alleges that Matthew sent threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voicemails, some of which were supposedly suicide threats.
Although Matthew allegedly went to a rehab facility in August, he has apparently been released, and Sarah has claimed that the director of the facility advised her to file a restraining order against him based on his emotional state.
Sarah's restraining order against Matthew requires that he stay at least 100 yards away from her and her dog at all times.
We're so sorry you had to deal with all this, Sarah.
