Texts From Walmart Caused This Man To Turn Himself In For A Murder He Committed 17 Years Ago!

Matthew Gibson

Well this sounds like it's straight out of the Pretty Little Liars playbook.

Matthew Gibson just turned himself in for a murder he committed 17 years ago thanks to texts from a wrong number.

The strange thing, though, is that THIS wrong number was actually from a Walmart.

Apparently, the 55-year-old had a one-night stand with a woman named Barbara Brown Agnew in 1997 and then murdered her and dumped her body in the Colorado River.

So, when Matthew started getting reminders from Walmart about a prescription ready for pickup for a woman named Anita Townshed, he became paranoid that someone knew his secret.

You see, Matthew couldn't remember Barbara's name, so he thought that Anita must have been the woman whom he killed, and that "Walmart" was really someone who was contracted to kill him.

He confessed to the 17-year-old murder out of fear for his life, and is scheduled to start his 10-year sentence shortly.

Walmarts sure do attract some crazy people.

Re: jesse – So true. A friend of mine sadly was killed by a mugger in a "robbery gone wrong," (as the police put it) and the person who acted as lookout AND who ratted on the gunman, leading to his arrest, got ten years! And he was down the block when the murder occurred AND it was a robbery. This seems like a flat out, cold blooded murder… And he gets 10? What?!?! Very sad for the victim… Makes me wonder if she was seen by the police as someone who mattered less… Like a prostitute or transient drug addict… Our country's judicial system scares me. BTW, the killer of my friend got life, and he was 17 at the time he did the murder also….

Well, the story does not say what degree of murder he was convicted of, 1st, 2nd, or one of the two levels of manslaughter, voluntary and involuntary.

10 years for murder is not enough. Where is the Justice?

Re: Betty – The guy wasn't 17. The murder happened 17 years ago. There are too many details left out to judge why he will only serve 10 years. Perhaps there isn't enough evidence to charge him with 1st degree.
