Lindsay Lohan made her West End debut on Wednesday night in the long-awaited staging of Speed-The-Plow, and everyone is just dying to know how it went!

Unfortunately, it's actually a bit difficult to tell.

Reviews are so mixed, it's tough to figure out where expectation ends and real criticism begins! By some accounts, Lindsay was a mess who couldn't remember her lines.

By others, she was more prepared than some of her costars AND had her star quality turned up to 11! What's real?

Here's what we're hearing:

According to witnesses — um, we mean audience members — LiLo forgot her lines and had to be prompted at least FIVE TIMES over the course of the play.

But one of her costars, West Wing vet Richard Schiff, reportedly needed to be prompted a couple times as well. Maybe it was just the opening night jitters?

On the positive side, by many accounts Lindsay may have had some trouble with David Mamet's sharp, fast dialogue, but she was still utterly charming in the role.

The good news about mixed reviews is that Lindsay's debut was not the train wreck many feared. And she has plenty more nights to perfect her performance.

Speed-The-Plow runs until November 29th.

At least she showed up. That's more than I thought she would do.

Re: rosebud99 – Very true. But forgetting your lines constantly? Not good. I don't get the whole "charming" thing. Charm is not acting skill. She has a small role, not much dialogue, she needs to know her lines and deliver them well. Her being "charming" doesn't have anything to do with how good or bad her performance was.

Likely she will be laughed off the stage - people were snickering in the audience since she was so bad. I actually think she has the potential to be a good actress - she showed it in several of her film roles. But without hard work, preparation, focus and staying clean, even the best can't deliver a great stage performance, let alone remember their lines.

i give her two week. she'll be fired if she doesn't quit or call in "sick" with another "miscarriage".

She has memory loss from trauma. It's evident

I saw this performance - she was solid, and yes, seemingly more prepared than her cast mates in some instances.

She's far more professional than she's given credit for.

She knows how to light it up. Live show first few nights should maybe provide an ear piece for performers until they can do it in their sleep. Or maybe they do.
    Haven't been in a while.

The reviews are stating that she did not know her lines despite months of preparation. She had to have her lines fed to her from back stage and also read her lines from a prop book on stage.

with just a small handful of lines to learn…..and months to learn them….this douch bag chose to drink, drug, party and stay out in clubs every night. Instead of reading that she nailed it and did a great job, the audience was actually laughing at her.
Looks like it's time to move to another country Skankapotamus. How's that come back?

Re: nyccrit[/re] Liar. You did not see this production. Lindsay was NOT SOLID, ok. No she was not. As for "charm" - people aren't paying around 75 bucks to see Lindsay be "charming" while she fucks up her lines and therefore, fucks up the flow of the play. Sure, opening night jitters. That might be excused if Meryl Streep or Cher did it, but this was yet another Lindsay Lohan Comeback and she FAILED. Again. Badly. The theater was only half full and people were falling asleep and laughing AT HER. It hardly matters if she does well anymore. She just proved SHE IS NOT RELIABLE. The woman only had a few lines and a speech she read from a book. Her positive reviews are from her twittr account. and we saw how that packs up with bullshit when orphans were tweeting Lindsay a happy birthday. This cow has been milked DRY, Dina. Set her out to pasture.

Re: jeanmichelbasketcase – I am surprised by your optimism. I would be surprised if the play was still going in two weeks. Maybe Lindsay will quit or get fired and her understudy will blow people away and blow life into this play. After this disastrous opening, people simply are not interested in going. I think Lindsay will "quit" within a week (or LESS). From "exhaustion". And it's true. She can't party all night and meet her professional obligations. It's too much for her. She only had a few lines and months to prepare. Isn't it really OBVIOUS now, that Lindsay Lohan is severely BRAIN DAMAGED from all the shit she takes? Publically Pathetic. For years now. What, in God's name, is coming next?

Re: The Hell You Did – Film actors get takes. Moving to live is a whole new ball game. Especially if you've destroyed some brain cells. Work harder.
