Taylor Swift Gets REAL About Feminism, Supporting Miley Cyrus, & Brilliantly Defends Emma Watson!

This is just one of the many reasons to LOVE Taylor Swift!

She's gorgeous, writes AH-MAZE songs, and she's (now) a proud feminist who is incredibly well-informed on the topic!

Seriously, gurlfriend KNOWS what she's talking about!

The Shake It Off singer was on Tout Le Monde En Parle, a talk show in Canada hosted by Guy A. Lepage, and he decided to ask the singer about misrepresentation in the media.

Which, obviously, inspired her to talk about feminism!

[Related: Emma Watson's Speech On Feminism & Gender Inequality!. ]

She said:

'I think when it comes to females in the media, you'll see something that kind of upsets me, which is that females are pinned up against each other, more so than men. One thing I do believe as a feminist is that in order for us to have gender equality we have to stop making it a girl fight, and we have to stop being so interested in seeing girls try to tear each other down. It has to be more about cheering each other on, as women and that's just kind of how I feel about it.'

YAAAAAAASSSSSS! We LOVE IT! But that's not all!

Guy asked T.Swift about whether she was surprised that Emma Watson got a lot of hate for her UN HeForShe speech.

She said:

'I wish when I was 12 years old, I had been able to watch a video of my favorite actress explaining in such an intellectual, beautiful poignant way the definition of feminism. Because I would have understood it and then earlier on in my life I would have proudly claimed that I was a feminist. Because I would have understood what the word means.

So many girls out there say 'I'm not a feminist ' because they think it means something angry or disgruntled or complaining or they picture like rioting and picketing it is not that at all,. It just simply means that you believe that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities, and to say that you're not a feminist means that you think that men should have more rights and opportunities than women.

I just think that a lot of girls don't know the definition and the fact that Emma got up and explained it, I think it's an incredible thing and I am happy to live in a world where that happened.'

We love that young girls nowadays have Emma AND Taylor to teach them about empowerment and equality!

Then, Taylor was asked about Miley Cyrus and her notoriously crazy outfits, she had such an eloquent answer and was able to practice what she preached…

AKA not tearing down another female artist!

She said:

'Honestly, I think that I cheer on anybody who is living their life on their own terms and wearing what they want to wear and representing what they want to represent. I think that no other female artist should be able to tell me to wear less clothes and I'm not gonna tell any other female artist to wear more clothes.

You know what I'm saying?

As long as it's their idea, and they're expressing their sexuality or they're expressing their strength or it makes them feel like a woman to perform a certain way or dress a certain way. I just think that as long as it's coming from them and they're living their life on their own terms, I cheer them on.'

PREACH, gurlfriend! We love it!

Educating the masses while also standing up for what you believe in! So kick-ass!

Ch-ch-check out the whole interview (below)!!!

Taylor - there is a difference between EXPRESSING your sexuality and SELLING your sexuality. If you want to support women like Miley, then how about you try and educate her on how selling herself like this not only brings herself down, but it brings all women/girls down.

Taylor gives such wishy-washy answers. She doesn't want to appear controversial, so she just ends up sounding bland. Criticize Miley, Taylor. It's perfectly ok to do so.

    - and to say that you're not a feminist means that you think that men should have more rights and opportunities than women. - Taylor Swift

It is the same thing that if you are not baptized, it means that you don't want God…

Translation: Please stop slut shaming us so we can be the sluts we really want to be. I really hate this fucking turd.

Re: Miracle – In total agreement with you. I'm sick and tired of hollywood protecting Cyrus. This spoiled brat is selling sex to children and knows exactly what she is doing. Im beginning to think that sweet little Taylor is about to morph. Hope not.

She's an amazing girl and she indeed answered eloquently, but what she said about Miley's actions was very "safe".

Hey, get your gag items and prank stuff at "FakeaBaby"! :)

This is pure b.s. Snow job. Women need, must speak out about women dressing as if a pimp dressed them. How women present themselves influence how women are viewed. To think that it doesn't, is fairyland. It is hardly a mans place to go about telling women they are dressing like whores. And I am equal without being a trumped up word. CIA funded women's liberation movement. Check it out. This is equal bs to snow women that being whores makes them equals.

100 percent agree with Taylor. Parents, it is not Mileys job to teach your kids about morals. Thats your job! Miley has made it very clear that she is not changing. Therefore, you need to make changes in your household. Communication is key.

Being sexually comfortable doesn't make you a slut or a whore or trashy or anything negative. It's a great thing to be sexually comfortable. That kind of sexual confidence is something that 95% of women don't have yet, so it's shocking when someone in the spotlight has.

What I really don't understand is, if you're going to hate Miley, why not hate every other female who's done something similar? Beyonce at the Super Bowl 2013? Madonna? Katy Perry? Rihanna? Lady Gaga? She`s 21 NOT 12, I think Taylor gave a interview!

Re: EFFOFF – I don't hate anybody but I loathe the acting/dressing like a slut. By the way, making up statistics doesn't make them correct.

"Miley has made it very clear that she is not changing. Therefore, you need to make changes in your household."

Or, just teach your kids from the start that people so blatantly desperate for attention (like Miley) are to be pitied rather than emulated.

I wish Taylor had the courage to call out Miley's pathetic desperation. Maybe one day Taylor will be a strong enough woman to do so.

If Taylor is such a feminist, how come she always portrays the 'other woman' or the girl her crush likes as a massive slut who is just f*cking him for the fame. She criticizes women in every song where she's jealous. Never once has she ever acted nicely towards a new woman in her exes life. She's not a feminist, she's a fame whore misogynist and a a hyopcritical slut-shamer because she's the biggest slut there is

But it is not her own idea. It is pedophile, sexually harassing Marc Jacobs'.

And "feminism" is not right. Men and women are not equals. We have different roles. Women are supposed to be Christians, mothers, housewives and man's 'helper'. And men should be Christians, and towards females be appreciative, caring and understanding.

    Not hookers, singers, lesbians, etcetera.

I truly hate the use of feminism by these individuals as a way to prevent the public's critique of entertainment, which is supposed to be considered art. I find Miley's portrayal of herself to be uninspired and lazy. This is not because she is female. This is because that's I do not find her entertainment to be thoughtful or intelligent. I feel the same way about Justin Beiber, but for different reasons. Again, this has nothing to do with gender but with their art. We can all keep talking about feminism, but frankly, this scenario has nothing to do with feminism.

Perez- you directly perpetuate feuds between celebrities, and pinning female celebrities against each other. Right above this post is a "who wore it best?" Look at how you antagonized GaGa by comparing her album sales to the talentless Katy Perry's. You are one of the biggest hypocrites in the media.

  23. Haley says – reply to this

    23

I do agree with her, but think she's being a bit hypocritical. I find it so ironic that she thinks the public shouldn't be so interested in women putting each other down after she releases statements and a new song about….GASP….. putting a fellow artist down. I get that the media and public have been very critical of her, but she is guilty of the very same.
